Thanks Max. I'm hoping that nothing got behind the way liner and I'm also hoping that with an untwisted bed the .002" variation may decrease. I got the idea for taking those measurements from Tyrone Shoelaces on Practical Machinist. He seems to have lots of experience with rebuilding and maintaining HBMs. Ken

I hope the mesurements are good. The idea that you maybe have to take it appart again and fix it... bah. One hell of a job.

Thanks Rusty. At this point I've put so much work into this machine that having to lift the saddle off and repair the way liner is a relatively small job. Having a crane that can lift the saddle also helps a lot with the task. Ken

The big box way covers are known unreliable on all hbms. I have ran a few with waycovers pulled back. They like to separate in the stack so two groups of covers pull apart, then when you drive them back together they crush. Way covers suck

I thought that may be the case. The way cover on the bed next to the column was separated into two pieces. I'll have to look at that and see if I can fix it. Ken
