Yup. His speech to Ashley said it all. *"I'm your parent. It's a job I refuse to give up and one at which I cannot afford to fail."* More parents should have that attitude BEFORE they become parents. EXCELLENT WRITING for this show!

@pastaspaghettimonster1893 3 жыл бұрын
@@ItWILLbeWONDERFUL_THERE Sadly while many may try, they execute it wrong and fail by trying to protect their kids from EVERYTHING and stifle their development and individuality. They fail because they don't realise what succeeding as a parent is. Succeeding is having an 18 year old that has the confidence to say "NO" and knows when to draw firm lines, not be talked into things, and is responsible. They know there are times for fun but there are also times you have to step up to help someone because no one else, even their parents, are helping them. Some may see this line as endorsing helicopter parenting, but what it's about is teaching your children right from wrong, nd giving them confidence to go against their friends ideas if those ideas are wrong. It's not surrounding your child 24/7 to make sure he/she never has to make decisions, then turn them loose at 18 when they suddenly have to make all their decisions themselves. Many parents at my small school were VERY angry that our trained shop teacher (who was a fully qualified builder) from teaching 16 to 18 year old high school students from using power tools. His response was in possibly less than a year they will be buying one of these tools themselves, would you rather they learn how to use them in an environment with quality tools by a qualified and experienced instructor watching EVERYTHING they do, next to an emergency cut-off switch.... or would you rather they use a cheap tool and have to figure it out by themselves with a poor quality manual with no safety devices and no instructor? Still some parents said "no" to letting their child do wood work...

My Dad and I have different DNA. I don't know who my father is and neither does he... but he's been my Dad for 24 years and I've been his son for 34 years and he is closer to me by miles than any blood relative... and as he's 78 has made sure in his will I am treated the same as a biological son. He has ALWAYS been the person to ALWAYS help out when I had no one to turn to, and even at 78 we combine chores as we live just a minutes walk away from each other. Like, he does the shopping for us both (I reimburse of course) and I will cook for us both. We do each others hair cuts, if he needs to borrow my tools he can take what he wants.... if I need to borrow his washing machine so I can do twice as much washing that's cool. If my wife needs lifts to work and back and I can't do them, he does them, and if not he takes my dog for 15mile+ walk/runs. But if he needs some help with his computer/phone I will do my best sraight away. He was and always will be my father. I seek his counsel when in tough times, and he seeks mine on other matters. We have a bond stronger than DNA... it's mutual love and respect.

Sure they do. Blackish, Fresh Off The Boat, The Goldbergs. I'm of the Fresh Prince generation and thought Happy Days was corny. Kids and young adults these days may think Fresh Prince is corny. As generation advance the new ones have a different taste. Also we are in the "on demand" generation. They don't gather as a family in front of one tv anymore. Everyone has their own screen. I believe this is what we miss more than the show. It's just hidden in our psyche.

My grandfather was technically a step grandpa. I told him once thanks for treating my like one of the blood grandkids. He replied “ you are my grandson and have been since you were 5 years old” that will never change and I love you end of story. In his will I was named a grandson not a step grandson. Love is thicker than blood

what i like about the first scene is that in the full version, Uncle Phil leaves the room after telling Will that he shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, only for Will to sit down at the piano and start playing classical music, which surprises Uncle Phil. i always thought that was really clever.

Man, I love Uncle Phil. Unlike other clichéd dumb and lazy dads that are shown on other shows, Philip is smart, wise, kind, responsible, and a really good parent. Will is lucky to have such a parent figure. He really wants to spend time with his kids and it's a shame they don't appreciate it. Phil, Jazz and Carlton are my favorite characters. :-)

I like how you included #7. Sometimes the best thing said is nothing and just be there for the person. Will needed to release his anger like that, and Uncle Phil was someone who cared about and a shoulder that Will could cry on, both figuratively and literally. I love this scene because it shows how great both these actors are
