So do soft chambers have a benefit or is it just a myth?
One of my main goals in all of the work that we're doing, especially this KZbin channel, is to deal with a lot of the myths and misconceptions about hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
I believe that hyperbaric oxygen is one of the most powerful tools that any of us might have in our toolbox to really help patients in so many different cases.
However, it remains one of the most underutilized tools out there, and I believe that the biggest reasons are because people don't fully understand what it is, and how it works, and also due to these myths that persist in the industry, creating confusion and making doctors or other health care practitioners reluctant to recommend it or use it in their practices.
So let’s discuss one of the biggest myths out there: Soft hyperbaric chambers don’t work.

The decision if 1.3 ATA chambers are efficient should not be by discussing physiology or gas laws, but by looking at double blind test studies. To the best of my knowledge consistent statistically significant results were reached only above 1.9 ATA. At 1.3 ATA the results were not conclusive. I will try to cite the meta analysis lateron.

So, one thing not talked about in this video, is possible side effects at different pressures. I've read studies that indicate most side effects happen at 2ATM and above. In the UK, we generally have 1.5ATM soft chambers, so above the 1.3 that you mention. You mention that increase in pressure and increase in oxygen, means greater ATP output. But, surely there's a limit to how much more energy can be produced through just an increase in oxygen. Is this limit reached at a feed of 100% oxygen at 1.5ATM or maybe at 2ATM? How do they measure the mitochondrial response? I provide red light therapy bed and full Spectrum IR Sauna in my place in order to improve cellular energy and I recommend this prior to using HBOT in order to amplify the benefits. The next step is to provide a PEMF mat. Definitely more studies are required!
@lillylilly4518
@lillylilly4518 4 ай бұрын
interesting! Could you maybe go into more detail? So you rec first red light therapy/ IR Sauna, then HBOT followed by PEMF mat? was just thinking yesterday which flow would be the best. How long are you using each and much time to you pause without each session or do you just jump from IR to HBOT to PEMF without breaks?
@dheanan
@dheanan 4 ай бұрын
It's all about the cellular pathway of energy production within the cells. The light therapy assists with the third stage, cytochrome 3 production and the hyperbaric feeds the cell with high levels of oxygen to increase ATP energy produced by the cell. It is our of the other, or all right before oxygen therapy. The light therapies penetrate different levels so it's nice to mix. The pemf is just a proven option to do this before oxygen therapy.

Any validity to the thought process of going to a clinic with a 2 ATA chamber w/O2 initially with the thinking that the mitochondria etc will open up better at the 2ATA pressure, THEN being able to follow up (or MAINTAIN) with a 1.3 ATA unit at home? I have a friend who’s been diagnosed with vascular dementia and we are looking for the best route to pursue a HBOT. A 20 hr session pkg of the 2ATA w/O2 chamber is $4k! I would love to put this $4000 towards the purchase of a 1.3, but hearing from providers that a 1.3 may not be enough pressure to stimulate a “change underway” in her brain, aka “ get things moving”. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thx for what you do!

How was it administered 300 years ago? How are the soft chambers sanitized of all the bacteria and pathogens it has to collect from sick patients? It seems these contaminates would be more difficult to remove and a risk to the next patient than the hard ones, but maybe it's equally risky. I watched a cleaning video for the hard chambers from one of the manufacturers and it was frightening. Do the soft chambers have the same kind of exhalation exhaust as hard chambers and if yes, how are the exhausts sanitized? "Do the face mask, sitting up HBOT therapy clinics really work? Is the oxygen pressurized and how does that oxygen therapy compare to the chambers? Should not be treating 14 FDA approved indication with soft chamber mild pressure." What about severe anemia? Wouldn't that still help?

Agree 100 - saved my mums life my soft shell that goes to 1.5 / thanks for the clarification as many believe they dont work. One argument is the Co2 is too high in soft shell whats your take on that
@HBOTUSA
@HBOTUSA Жыл бұрын
These are typically designed as flow through chambers meaning the compressor runs the entire length of the session and this helps the chamber vent unwanted gases throughout the session. There should not be a large increase in co2 inside the chamber if all the components are working well. Lastly the rise in co2 is specifically dangerous at a pressure of oxygen of 2.0 and greater as it increases the risk of oxygen toxicity. This is not the case at 1.3. Hope that helps!
@straxxxxxx

If CO2 is accumulating in the chamber then I guess this is a design flaw. All exhaled air should be directly moved out if the chamber.
@straxxxxxx

@@HBOTUSA The risk of oxygen toxicity can be significantly decreased by profiting from the hyperoxic-hypoxic paradox. I.e. you breathe 100% O2 for only 15 minutes, then 5 minutes of 21% O2 in repeated cycles.
@ChessMasterNate

I doubt it would greatly increase superoxide. You would still be using a low amount of oxygen compared to exercise or sauna. The difference should be that more oxygen would be getting into small blood vessels, blood vessels where there is some resistance to flow, and tissues that oxygenate poorly like cartilage, and bone. And I disagree that if there was much more superoxide, that, that would be beneficial. If there is not a balance between superoxide dismutase and superoxide, a great deal of damage could result. But, like I said, I don't think that is what is happening.

Hello. I've been following all your videos and I have a personal soft chamber at home. 1 question that I cant find anywhere about HBOT is in relations to heavy metal. Im assuming that the o2 will increase cellular membrane voltage, which will pull the positive ions like mercury and lead outside the cell and into the blood, but usually, in a chealation therapy, you need a binding agent like dmsa, dmps, ala to bind to the toxins in the blood do.the kidneys can push it out. Im wondering if you had an opinion on this. I'm worried that doing hbot without taking a chealation agent will swish the mercury inside my body and dump it more into the brain. Would love your opinion on the subject

@@HBOTUSA Thank you for the reply. What would be your suggestion as an oral protocol? I'm familiar with andrew cutler's protocol. Low dose DMSA + ALA every 4 h for 56 hours then 4 days OFF, then repeat, but i'm worried that the dmsa, ala + HBOT will pull too many metals at the time, would that be too much? And if I do HBOT 1h a day (1.3 ATA at 90% O2), should I do a softer chelator, like bentonite clay, chlorella but do it everyday? Should I time the chelator 1h or 2 before I do my HBOT? Or should I simply do the Cutler's protocol? Should I NOT do HBOT on my days off? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Dr. Sonner, you mention that a soft chamber at 1.3ATA is 30% more oxygen. However, if the user is using an oxygen mask while in chamber would that not increase the oxygen percentage further? If so would it increase it 4x, or is my math wrong? Thank you so much for these videos!!

I have a question. please correct me if i am wrong. At sea level standing outside we live in one atmoshperic pressure ( 1 ATA ). In 1 ATA pressure there is about 21% oxygen that we breath. In a soft shell hyperbaric chamber it adds .3 or 30% more to 1 ATA pressure equalling 1.3 ATA. That 30% or .3 increase in 1 ATA pressure in a soft shell hyperbaric chamber only yields a 7% increase in oxygen not 30%. In other words in a soft shell Hyperbaric Chamber the total oxygen % at 1.3 atmospheric pressure is about 28%. Just a 7% increase of what we breath normally
@HBOTUSA
@HBOTUSA 10 ай бұрын
The % of oxygen in the air does not change with pressure (whether you're at 3 ATAs or way up in the mountains). Air is 21% oxygen. It's the pressure that drives how much oxygen you're able to absorb. At 1.3 ATA, you're able to absorb approx. 30% more oxygen, because that increased pressure dissolves additional oxygen into the plasma of your blood, which isn't possible at 1 ATA.

I KID YOU NOT! He won't put me in there. He's denied me access. And I think it's a load of garbage, because I have a great mental capacity, I'm not going to try to get out of the chamber when it's at full pressure. I know the pressure cannot be reduced from 40 KPA all of the sudden, and I would just lie in there, quietly for the hour and 15 minutes patients are in there, but the guy refuses to put me in. I told them I would be safe in there, but he said "NO!" So that's not happenin. Which I think it not right! You know, even my Primary Care Physician thinks and told the Chiropractor that I could benefit. And the Chiropractor told me to consult with him, but when I did, the chiropractor decided to deny me access. So I'm switching Chiropractors!

Liquid in the ear canal means that your are dealing with severe dehydration due to lack of electrolytes, the ingredients in good quality salts. Liquids in the ear also means that you consume little or no salt in your foods and also that you din't know that it is essential to add good quality salt to all the beverages ingested every day for the rest of your life. Salt is an essential nutrient for anyone who wants to live a long, healthy and active life. Therefore you must salt your foods to taste and add small amounts of it to the water and other beverages ingested every day for as long as you live.

In my country up to 1.5atm they call ot NORMOBARIC. To achieve good result the atmosphere is 40% O2 2% CO2 0.5% H2 It's safe, anyone can use in their homes. It's cheaper. Round 20.000$ You may stay over night in it. To miss to mention CO2 and H2 content is to miss the difference between normobaric and hyperbaric. If it's 1.3atm with O2 only then it's not equal effect to HBOT. But when it's O2, CO2 & H2 at 1.5atm then it does the job. It's like comparing apple and orange. Both are fruits. Not the same.

I just nap during the session. The compressor creates a pleasant white noise, and the O2 mask is comfortable. At the end of the session, after I wake up, I feel totally refreshed and alive, like the best night's sleep of my life. I took a cheapie pulse oximeter into my last session. Normally I am 94-96%. In the session I was at 99%. The wound is starting to close after three sessions. I told the tech I felt a slight tingling around the would and in other places, and she said that is an excellent sign that usually does not happen unto 5 sessions, so I am very positive at this point. My son has a grade 3 glioma recurrence and cerebral radiation necrosis (RN) both of which are causing severe cerebral edema. He had 11 sessions of HBOT at a hospital at 2.0 ATA to treat RN until he had a seizure in the chamber when it was being depressurized. He did not take his seizure med that day. His seizure meds have been increased but the hospital refuses to restart his HBOT treatments and his onclologist refuses to issue a referral to another hospital. It appears that RN is the primary cause of the severe edema. We are concerned the edema is providing a favorable environment for tumor progression. The RN is getting worse and could kill him. We are also aware that HBOT may slow down or stop tumor progression. My son has survived 3 seizures but may will not survive his tumor or radiation necrosis if they go unchecked. Again, there are no viable chemo or immuno therapy options available for him. We appear to have no choice but to do at home HBOT but are concerned that 1.3 ATA may not be effective. By the way, on 12/29/22 he was told there were no more chemo options available and that his prognosis was ~8 months. He has survived beyond that prognosis on a therapeutic keto diet and several off label drugs and many supplements (thank you Prof Seyfried). Would greatly appreciate your input on this.

@tedkulczycky1168 16 күн бұрын
We have the book and it was a great start. 2 years ago Prof Seyfried provide a slew of references: books, research studies, case studies. We embraced all of them. My son has exceeded his prognosis by one year now because we followed Seyfried's recommendations. However the big challenge now is his cerebral radiation necrosis which set in a year or more after radiation therapy. Radiation necrosis can be treated by steroids or other drugs with major side effects, or HBOT. Radiation necrosis can be very consequential and can even lead to death. Currently it is causing severe edema and as I noted, HBOT centers will not treat him because he had a seizure in a chamber at 2.0 ATA, due primarily to the wound care centers neglect. We will purchase a soft chamber and do HBOT at home. We can handle a seizure at home, but we cannot handle watching our son deteriorate because hospitals are afraid of the liability of a seizure, because they don't understand or don't want to bother to understand that with the proper protocal a seizure can be avoided. They prefer to prescribe drugs like dexamethazone or ineffective chemo and have seizures happen while under his families care. As you can tell, we are fed up with the standard of care, which is really a standard of neglect.

It is for a healthspan purpose. I want to go to your facility for training, I can buy 2ATA for home use. Thanks! Shan

Is there any explosion danger when using an oxygen concentrator in a hyperbaric chamber?

Do you have any videos on hyperbaric treatment for lyme disease? Wondering if a soft chamber would work to treat it as it's less than half the price of a hard chamber in my area. Thanks

Yes we have a video on lyme, which you can view here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIjamn2dhsipqLc This is not medical advice (you'd need to set up a consultation by emailing us at support@hbotusa.com for that), but generally speaking we typically treat chronic Lyme at lower pressures, like 1.5 ATA to 2.0 ATA, depending on the symptoms someone has. But soft chambers are not able to go to these pressures (they max out at 1.3 ATA). That's not to say someone couldn't see some benefits using 1.3, but you likely wouldn't see the same results that a slightly higher pressure could yield.

@@HBOTUSA Thank you and I checked your website and found you have a location fairly close to me. I sent an email already and hopefully get started with some treatments soon.

@@sandra4065 Yes I'm working on setting up appointments now. They recommended at least 40 hours of HBOT so it's a big commitment money and time wise. Sounds promising so we'll see!

Just found out about your channel and immediately subscribed. I have lots of questions about the use of HBOT to treat cancer. I am following Professor Seyfried's protocol. He recommends 2.4 or above ATA. I do not have that kind of pressure available to me locally. Max they are offering is 2.0 ATA cranked up to possible 2.2ATA. I was told the 3.0ATA machines which are capable of doing 2.4-2.6 are only available in hospitals. Is that correct? I can go to Los Angels to do the high ATA HBOT but do not know where to look.

In the U.S., soft chambers are only approved for 1.3ATA.

Will try for my long Covid, next week! Obviously, if I have a mithocondrial issue, they need to find out how Covid causes it in the first place. Unless, if it’s due to viral persistence, it will give my cells the strength to clear it once and for all!

@@briantimmerart I was far too tired for two days, after I tried. It is normal, but I need to go to work. So, I will probably resume.

I clearly understand your physiological explanation. But, why the NFPA are closing down Soft Chamber or mild chamber in the US?

maybe because they're beneficial, then the powers that be will move on to Hard body chambers next.
