Man I love IPAs! Thanks for your brewing videos. They're awesome and I really appreciate how unpretentious you are about brewing - you just roll with whatever happens and have fun with it. The relaxed nature of your early videos gave me the nerve to go ahead and start brewing after several "very serious" brewing videos made it seem too much like a homework assignment.

Good to see you brewing again! I was wondering- if instead of adding the priming sugar to the boil, what if you added the priming sugar when the beer is kegged. Maybe give it a couple weeks in the keg and try a sample. I was just wondering. Great video and keep us informed about Pedro the Welder! 17!
@TheBrewQ
@TheBrewQ 9 жыл бұрын
You would end up with added sweetness unless you added it and didn't chill the keg, then it would just ferment out to more CO2 and a minimal additional amount of alcohol.

I've never sparged a partial extract brew. How long did you leave the grain bag in the sparge water? And why do you leave some of the extract for the end of the boil? Awesome video!
@OffroadBrewventures
@OffroadBrewventures 9 жыл бұрын
+Todd Carrick the beer will be darker if you add it all at the start. Saving half or even 2/3 to the end will help the color stay lighter so its good for some styles.
@2TEN90
@2TEN90 9 жыл бұрын
Interesting...so how does that affect the flavor?
@OffroadBrewventures
@OffroadBrewventures 9 жыл бұрын
+Todd Carrick boiling the wort is really just to sterilize it, and it only needs about 10-15 minutes for that. it doesnt affect the flavor.
@victorbitter583
@victorbitter583 9 жыл бұрын
+Todd Carrick having a S.G of over 1.040 during a boil will inhibit the hops ability to release it's oils/compounds into the wort. also a high S.G in a boil is a sure fire way to get a boilover. cheers.

Hi there, I have a question for you about the inmate wine. to stop the fermenting process, you recommend putting the wine in the freezer to kill the yeast. can I store the wine in glass bottles then stick it in the freezer or I have to store it in plastic bottles first? please reply because my wine will be ready soon lol XD
@CraigTube
@CraigTube 9 жыл бұрын
+Rocca Sparks I would stay away from glass for sure. The wine will not freeze totally and if the glass does break, you've lost most of the alcohol all over your freezer.

Craig with liquid malt extract in a bag like yours could you put it in the microwave for 15 or more seconds to warm it through mite make it easy Mick Bates
@CraigTube
@CraigTube 9 жыл бұрын
+mick bates Worming is up is a great idea. I would be very careful with the microwave though because it can create hot spots and melt the bag. Short bursts and some moving around would work.. so does a sink full of hot water.

This dude gets bunch of free stuff on regular basis, wort chillers,brew kits...some of those chillers are $100+ and those kits range from.$40-$80..pretty cool & crazy how much stuff he gets for FREEEEE!!!
@CraigTube
@CraigTube 8 жыл бұрын
Truth be told - I have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to receive kind gifts from others. More truth be told - Not all the stuff I use in my videos was free, as I'm sure you know. I do buy supplies and ingredients. This particular kit was a free gift. Some of the other things you mentioned were NOT free. But when you say "Pretty cool & crazy how much stuff he gets for FREEEEE!", I would have to agree. Here's the thing... These videos take hours, sometimes days, to plan and shoot, then there's editing and responding to messages. If someone sends me a beer kit or something, it's my duty to put together a video, and as I said, this amounts to hours of work. Brewing a beer is one thing... filming and editing it for KZbin is another. So, FREE is nice, but I work hard for it, and anyone on KZbin who works hard on content probably gets free stuff. To create content, I need stuff. If I had to buy absolutely everything I have used in my videos, there would be less videos. I wouldn't be able to afford it all. Bottom line is... when I get a free gift from someone, it amounts to more free content on my channel... for you guys to watch. Always keep in mind that I never ask for anything. Many people have chosen to contribute in many ways, and that has brought you more videos. Cheers!

+Lambert Simnel Ales if it works for you great, I'd never trust it.
@CraigTube
@CraigTube 9 жыл бұрын
+Tom Greene Our tap water is very clean. You can leave a glass of it sitting around and it will never go bad. I've been using it to brew for over 25 years and it has never caused a problem. Who's to say that bottled water is cleaner or any more sterile? Moreover, a lot of bottled water is just your tap water put into bottles. Good quality spring water might give you slightly better flavour, but I don't think it's really worth carrying around 5 gal jugs of water every time I brew. That's my experience. I think tap water gets a bad rap in the brewing community because it's just generally what people assume based on what they read or hear from others. Some people worry about the chlorine. I suppose the beer would be better off without it, but again, as Palmer said, it's really the last thing you should be worrying about. Bottom line is... use the water you think is best and easy to obtain. For me, that's my tap water.
