One of the Chargers best season recently came when the line was strong and there was serious talent in LT in the backfield in 2006 when they got 14-2. Does anyone remember any WR from that year? Just Gates in terms of pass catching but the biggest story was the run game. This is what Harbaugh is trying to emulate, they brought in JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, possibly drafting a high tier RB in this years draft. For those wishing we picked Nabers (like myself) ask, who were the main receivers during our runs in the 00s besides gates? We have lived with a pass heavy offense for over 10 years, we can't keep thinking like we're run by Telesco. Its a new era and frankly an era we haven't seen in decades. I won’t lie. I was and am not a fan of Hortiz’ start in Free Agency… But I have to feel for him and Harbaugh at this press conference. The questions being asked are embarrassing. These are professional sports reporters? How do you determine the ranking on your board? Seriously? You are a functional adult with at least minimal exposure to the game of football and you need that question answered? Really? That is critical to your article? That deserves time and space? I’ll help…they have spent time with the current roster. They have watched last year’s game film. Both of their team, and the prospects outlined by their scouting department. They have interviewed prospects. And they graded them factoring their ability to make the current roster better. Their impact. The best player FOR THE CHARGERS. Exactly what Hortiz said that is being misquoted by upset KZbin wannabe journalists. The best goes at the top of the board followed by the next best. This continues until there are no longer any players they are considering. They are even doing this for other team’s drafts and practice squads, existing rosters for potential trades or cuts… Sports writers and wannabes - I get the Charger fanbase is composed mostly of casual fans. You see it on Facebook and Twitter…I get it… But people, even casual fans, are not as stupid as that question eating time at a presser. Making them answer that sophomoric question three different ways is nothing short of journalistic incompetence.

We should be able to keep top edge players like JJ Watt off of Herbert's back.

Remember Guyton, TBilly and Carter? Of course not. They were productive when Herbert was throwing to them. Herbert will make anyone look like a good reciever given an opportunity to throw. This pick will help give him that opportunity.

What do they have that we don't with our current WR group. Oh yeah that's right speed!!! This would be a good pick but you got Palmer and Johnston who had the worst separation at WR. Neither of these guys getting open. Herbert going to be throwing more needle throws that get intercepted just watch

I’ve been watching football long enough to know that o line and run game is foundational to success. Love the pick! Welcome to the super chargers Joe Alt! ⚡️

Really? Because thats what the Browns are. Always a great O line and great RBs. What have they ever won? They have ONE playoff win in 30 years because they dont value the WR position. It's a passing league. Name the last power run team to win anything. I'll wait...

Games and seasons are made or lost in the trenches. This was a great pick. Ask Herbert's ribs what they think about this pick. They'll get receivers. Calm down. I'm predicting they get Roman Wilson in round two or three.

Imagine 'Air Coryell' creating a running team with Hall of Famer 'Dan Fouts.' That's exactly what Harbaugh and Hortiz have done with Herbert as QB.

The Coryell teams had Chuck Muncie and James Brooks (before the cheap Chargers traded him to Cincy). Their problems were on defense. Also, the Chargers were last a bully team and good under Marty Schottenheimer. They have been a soft team ever since.

The Bengals were in this situation a few seasons ago. They took the wr and made a SB appearance. They could have picked up a OT later down the road. Bummer 😞😞😞😞 😞

Yes but their QB is always hurt. I see it as they're protecting Herbert first, then giving him weapons second
