The best part of Mike McDaniels story is that he lost a Charlotte Hornets hat at Denver Broncos camp when he was a kid. The next day he returned to Broncos camp and a Broncos coach returned his hat to him then proceeded to date his mom and eventually marry his mom. Which ultimately led to McDaniels to be friends with Kyle Shanahan. Would his life be different if he never lost that hat?🤔

Glad to hear McDaniel talk up what I think is the most underrated part of Tua's game, his body control. Some of the stuff he does between the snap and the pass or hand off is crazy intricate and fast and you don't see any other QBs in the league doing anything remotely close. And it allows Mike to draw up plays for Tua that couldn't work with any other QB.

On the subject of the injuries and limiting offseason reps and sitting out preseason games: all of that is the reason that more injuries occur now in the NFL than ever. It’s because the CBA deals continue to limit the practices and full-contact reps. Players aren’t conditioned and hardened like they used to be and that’s why they’re getting injured. Limiting reps, whether in practice or preseason games, is not the answer, it’s actually the problem

I think i might just be The Old Guy now, but it is hard for me to get the comparisons out of my head of how Shula was as a young coach vs. coach McDaniel. Coach Shula was so incredibly intense and serious about all things his team, whereas coach McDaniel is so incredibly glib about everything. I can still remember Shula's first press conference, one of the south Florida press asked him to describe his coaching style, Shula replied "I'm about as subtle as a punch in the nose". I read a story once that when Miami Vice was a huge cultural phenomenon on TV that the two stars, Don Johnson and Philip Michal Thomas were brought out to practice and there was a big stir among the players and fans and they were walked over and introduced to Shula as from Miami Vice, Shula greeted them and shook their hands telling them what a good job they were doing in Miami, thinking they were actual Miami PD Vice cops, having no idea the TV show Miami Vice even existed. Of course, we know what followed, making the playoffs his first season followed by three SB's in a row and the perfect season. Whereas this team has yet to even beat the good teams when it matters. Perhaps it's not a fair comparison as the early Shula teams had HOF talent all over the offense and the defense was also packed with star players. I still bleed Art Deco Orange and Aqua Marine(o) from my time as a boy and I desperately want to believe in this team...But as much as I am impressed with the high flying offense (the '72 Dolphins also led the league in Points scored), I just haven't seen the toughness and precision in the big games against the best teams (which are really the only games that matter, if you can't beat the good teams it really doesn't matter after that)...as Shula said "The good teams win the close games".
@idawg73322 ай бұрын
Nah I’m in my 20’s so I never saw Shula but I also follow hockey and the difference between Paul Maurice for the panthers and McDaniel for the dolphins is night and day. Notice they’ve both been down here 2 years and which one made the finals twice and has a championship and which one can’t keep the team healthy or coach in big moments
