So, what can I say about today's episode in relation to the novel? 0:39 We saw Deng Xian last time. 5:22 My best guess is the idea is that Ma Chao will see his father's name on there next to Liu Bei and realize they have a common cause against Cao Cao. Ma Chao joins under different circumstances in the novel. As I mentioned before, he does join up with Zhang Lu, more out of desperation than anything. He puts up a good fight against Zhang Fei, and impresses Liu Bei so much he and Zhuge Liang work out a plot to recruit him. They send an envoy to Zhang Lu offering let him rule the eastern Riverlands, knowing he'll call back Ma Chao. Then Zhang Lu's advisor Yang Song, who was bribed by the envoy, spreads rumors that Ma Chao is planning to conquer the western Riverlands for himself, and recommends Zhang Lu give him one month to conquer the enter Riverlands for them, bring Liu Zhang's head, and kick out Liu Bei. From there Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang send Li Hui, a former advisor to Liu Zhang who'd just defected to them, to Ma Chao, and he convinces him the best thing for his short-term survival and his long-term goal to avenge his father is to join up with Liu Bei.

At 4:19, I congratulate you for getting the first Bag, which in your case, is the *Silver Bag* item. You can't sell any Bags, if I recall? I better check up on that... *Ma Chao* is basically *Zhang Bao* from the first game: high soldier count, same Strength, similar Intelligence and that killer Agility. _Clearly_ a tiger! As for Zhang Bao, well, we get to *that benchwarmer* way later down the road, so again, enjoy his absence for now. *Ma Dai* isn't too different from what he was from the first game (225 to 230 Strength and 175 to 170 Intelligence). I'd say he's a solid choice, especially since he also gets the _level up_ = *more soldiers* treatment this time around.

You know? The name of Ma Dai, the character from this game (an ancient Chinese general), sounds very similar to Mad Eye. I'm thinking of Mad Eye Moody, the Auror from the Harry Potter books (he appears for the first time in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which is the fourth of seven books). Did you know that J.K. Rowling has written more books in the Harry Potter universe? She also writes a good deal of lore in her website Pottermore.

The Silver Medicine is actually pretty good stuff. It's free out-of-battle healing, allowing you to heal up attrition from random battles without using TP or regular consumables. If it winds up used up, no big deal, you've just freed an inventory slot, and you still have all the TP, tents, and copper/silver potions you'd otherwise might've spend healing.

I am sorry but I didn't understand what FuSha and LiFan are supposed to achieve when used. Would anyone please explain again?

Li Jian: Confuses target to attack their allies. Fu Sha: Permanently paralyzes target to do nothing. Li Fan: Permanently confuses target to attack their allies. Fu Sha & Li Fan are both very costly and suffer from 50% accuracy, rendering them impractical to use.
