Ah, my first Joe. I have fond memories of this figure. And fun fact: Breaker's hometown of Gatlinburg, TN is 90 minutes from my hometown of Kingsport, TN, where I still live today.

Great video. I picked mine up in the 80's when they were Action Force over here in the U.K & still have him to this day with the rest of them.

I didn't find Breaker generic because he was my third Joe figure, behind Snake Eyes and Scarlett. Didn't mind him lacking weapons because I needed someone to ride the motorcycle after I got it soon after. One of my favorite figures ever. He ended up breaking, and I gave him Recondo's torso and arms. Ended up looking pretty cool.

The older figures are simplistic, yet they fit so well with the actual military theme of G.I.Joe. I've always liked the basic original figures. Their more realistic. And Grunt is by far my favorite of the original bunch. When I was a kid I would play with my uncles figures. I loved this old PC game called Army Men. Grunt always reminded me of the main character Sarge from that game. I always gave Grunt the role of Sarge from the Army Men games. I do love many later figures such as Beachhead, Falcon, Low-Light and others. But There's just something special about the early Joe figures. Including the Cobra's! The first Cobra Commander is my favorite figure and character in G.I. Joe. But yet again, an awesome review! You are defiantly in my opinion the best G.I. Joe reviewer out there. You got humor and you go into depth about the figures and their character backgrounds. And also bring up good facts about the figures you review. I've learned a few new things such as Breaker having a different head sculpt in pre-production. I am also loving these endings too. Very awesome stuff man! Keep up the great work!

+Silent Wobby Thank you! For kids who got into G. I. Joe after 1983, it is hard to explain the appeal of those simplistic 1982 Joes. But they were revolutionary at the time. That doesn't take anything away from the later Joes-- they're great! But they would not have been possible without the original thirteen.

dude I dig these vintage joes their appeal to me was that they were American soldiers and just like you I was blown away by the fact they could articulate better than star wars figures I had this guy and of course I gave him a gun when my grunt's thumb broke but if I remember right I got him right after I got rock n roll these older figures hold a lot of nostalgic memories for me and I liked this one he was a great co-driver when I used my vamp and a technical repair guy for the hal .I used him alot for support awesome review man I love these old joes they were the pioneers for the super articulated figures we have today
@HCC7889 жыл бұрын
+mgvillanmp478 Using Breaker for a repair guy for the HAL is a great idea! I'm glad you're liking the reviews. I may just stick with '82 for the rest of the month! It's an impromptu theme month! I didn't plan it that way.

The bearded GI Joes like Breaker, Clutch, etc reminded my son of The GI Joe Adventure Team Leader from the 1970's.
@stevendunkley88907 жыл бұрын
Breaker was one of the few characters from the British Action force range to transition from that line to GI JOE. the other notables being Destro/ Red Jackal and Scarlett/ Quarrel He was the Communications Officer in Z force originally but had extremely limited articulation compared to the other 2 who were O ring figures even back then (which as an unusual feature in those days) to allow them to interact with their respective vehicles, and had one straight arm and one crooked arm allowing him to salute or hold a rifle, and basic Star wars figure style Leg articulation at the hip. Glad they kept him and updated and improved on him, and that he still remains one of the most important characters in the GI Joe team even now.

As I fondly think of playing with my Gi Joes' as a child, I remember having the weapons at first and then not (lost probably). But it didn't matter, they could kick, punch, climb, swim, and if need be choke hold their cobra adversaries. Weapon or no weapon, these guys where always the best figures to play with.

I got the 1983 version in October of 1983. He was my third ARAH figure following Flash & Destro. My mom went on a trip to Chicago for a few days and when she came back she gave me Breaker and The RAM. Yes! I must have read the file card 50 times the first couple of weeks I had him. Great review, and although I didn't mind your first version, it's fun to watch the update.
@HCC7889 жыл бұрын
+Galaxy of Toys Your mom made an excellent selection! Breaker naturally goes with the RAM. I didn't get the RAM until later. Hopefully I've learned a little since my first review! Back then I hadn't decided how much editing I wanted to do on these-- so I didn't do any! And I hadn't figured out the lighting.

I agree. Back in the day the Gi Joe figures made the Star Wars figures seem boring and one dimensional. In 2008 a new sculpt Breaker was released with... The RAM Cycle. The sculpt is modern but it pays homage to the original design. The skit at the end makes me want to get my figures out and play with them.
@HCC7889 жыл бұрын
+Thor13332 The skits are a lot of fun, but they add several hours to the production time of the videos. I don't think I can do one every week, but I would like to do more.
@Thor133329 жыл бұрын
HoodedCobraCommander788 Yeah, I understand that. The editing and effects seems like it can be time consuming.
@Barada734 жыл бұрын
I prefer the "generic" design of those early Joes. Just look at photos of modern day Special Forces units, in places like Afghanistan, and you definitely get an O13 GI Joe vibe from some of those pictures. Although, with current technology, we might have moved beyond dedicated radio operators. It's when Hasbro started to focus too much on individuality within the GI Joe ranks that the entire concept really started to fall apart.

Sparks didn’t take over breaker in the cartoon infact sparks only appeared in two episodes and those were quite early in the series episodes 7 and 19 and that’s it breaker had a lot of appearances in the 1st season but in season 2 he’s not used and replaced by dial tone which sucks since dial tone to is just a lame character to me and in the 1987 animated movie he’s only in the background
@racerxgundam8 жыл бұрын
i dont care how this sounds...aside from vehicles (and that could be debated) GI JOE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> star wars toys all day long! i dun hate breaker. i can understand how his muted design is actually a strength...but now just as when i was a kid...the no weapons inclusion is just a death sentence. Sorry, not including at the very least a hand gun with this dude is simply unforgivable. its a shame really as i dun think he is a bad design per se...

i think i know why your reviews for the early joes don't seem to have the same interest for regular viewers, as your reviews of joes from other periods. Basically....its because EVERY gi joe reviewer on youtube has reviewed the 82,83,84 etc...joes. After a while it gets a bit old. I really liked when you reviewed the ambush figure from 90. It was a pleasant surprise AND....just do a search on youtube for other ambush reviews, chances are there aren't any others. Its a unique niche you could dig for yourself if you started reviewing the later joes, which other reviewers don't seem to want to touch. Do some reviews for the joes from 89 to the early nineties.....even if its just to bash how ridiculous they are (actually it could turn out to be really fun if the figure is just over the top ridiculous lol).....joe kids like me who like to watch joe reviews on youtube are always excited to see a thorough and thoughtful review on a figure we aren't already familar with, especially if its one we haven't seen since we were a kid. Just some food for thought, but I'd rather see a hoodedcobracommander style review on that horrible scarlet ninja force figure from the nineties, than yet another review of the 82 clutch, there are a million of those already. I really enjoy your videos, i look forward to the next one.
