Great job making lemonade out of these Battle Force 2000 lemons. Congrats on 3 years. A friend had this as a kid, I think I remember a figure fitting in the c clip on the back piece. Could be wrong.

That idea about rereleasing Battleforce 2000 vehicles in core G.I. Joe is cool! That way everybody would bug their friends to go buy their favorite vehicle, maybe twice, so there would be a higher chance we'd see it in the core G.I. Joe line--more sales, more vehicles, win-win for everybody! Same for the action figures--some transition to core G.I. Joe roles, as technology is deployed. Also, I like Dodger. Thinking of the spike thing on the rifle as a rifle grenade and the thick lower part between the grips as a futuristic P90 style magazine makes it make a lot more sense to me. I love the helmet and breastplate combination, and the loads of mag pouches on his chest, the orange is nice and subdued, and the texture pattern implies to me it's some sort of protective armor fabric. This is definitely a figure that looking at it today, I like a lot more than I did when I was 12 or so.

Thanks! I'm glad you kind of like my idea of transitioning one or two BF2000 vehicles to the main team. I think it could have worked if it were done right. Instead of having the Future Fortress gimmick, you could have a competition that the kids to get involved with to select the winning vehicle.

However, you said you were going to thank us for three years, and my personal feeling is, three years is a long time to be thanking people. ;) Great to see your parents on your channel. Thank your mom and dad for me for buying you GI Joes as a kid. Dodger was my favorite Battle Force 2000 and he is a top tier figure. Great design and colors and that gun was on of my favorites. Even amongst all my other Joes, Dodger served and taught in a lot of battles. The only vehicle I had was the Vindicator. I'm looking forward to that review. Your brought up a good point about reissuing some of the vehicles. That would have been cool especially if they did some slight redesigns on them like coverings to protect the drivers.

it has been a blast watching your channel the last few years HCC. Your folks are awesome. They hit a homerun their first time, just like your family did the first I saw them. onto BF2K. Dodger is a pretty cool figure, i agree. the Marauder is a dumb looking vehicle, even with a few nice features, it still feels like a massive turd that Hasbro put very little thought into. we have seen some strange vehicles in GI Joe that usually ended up in Cobra. the Marauder looks like the Maggot's Chevette style cousin, very little purpose other than rolling it downhill for crashes. Great review!

Dodger is my favorite Joe. I'm not sure if it's because he is from Indiana (where I live) or if it's because I got him for Easter... either way, he was always a top guy when I played as a kid. Glad he survived the BF2000 massacre.

It was a sign of things to come. They did try to swing a bit more toward the military side in 1988, but it didn't last long. They had to compete with Turtles and Power Rangers.

So many people focus in realism now that they're adult collectors, missing out entirely on the fact that the divergence from reality was a major draw for kids back in the 80s. The problem was that Hasbro stopped putting thought into the line, not that it wasn't true to life. Lots of figures, vehicles and playsets KZbin reviewers love are unrealistic, but they somehow miss that, which is striking as the entire line was unrealistic from the minute Zap appeared.

My best guess as to why Dodger survived while the rest of the Battleforce 2000 team died might have had something to do with his 1990 Sonic Fighters figure. While issue #113 was published in 1991 and the Sonic Fighters Dodger figures was discontinued in the same year, the toy was probably still available at retail were they hadn't sold out, so maybe Hasbro ordered that Dodger should survive just in the hopes that it would shift a few more figures?

You should do a skit on which battle force 2000 vehicle gets to join the Joe team. Dodger is my favorite BF2000 character next to Blaster. Basically for reasons you already mentioned. The reason Larry Hama did not kill off Dodger was the fact Hasbro put him into another team called Sonic Fighters which to me was far more bizarre then BF2000.

That is true. There are so many cool real military vehicles that could have been adapted into toys. Some of them even look sci-fi, even though they're real. There was a lot of good material to use as inspiration for vehicles.

I've been surprised by how much I've liked some of them, like the Avalanche and the Vector. But this is, hands down, the worst vehicle from the ARAH era I've seen. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.

you have the best gi joe channel ever. u mix in solid reviews, nostalgia, and humor in the best ways man!!!!!!!! now to my opinions on this toy... 1.) i said it before..and i'll say it again..thanx god these clowns never went against the iron grenadiers...destro would have WRECKED this sub group. the prob is destro's subsection did the "future" tech right....like its fanciful...but still looks dangerous...these guys look like cosplayers. 2.) i am SHOCKED u upper tiered dodger!!! :-O 3.) this vehicle would prolly have been better as two separate small toys. this one is straight garbage...like it doesn't make any sense at all.

I think Dodger got a pass because even as a kid, he was possibly the ONLY BF2000 guy who looked almost normal yet just futuristic enough. He kinda looked like a good guy Dreadnok, maybe explaining that issue of the comic. Anyway, great review, I always hated the Marauder, silly vehicle, I'm sure HCCDad agrees.

Dodger easily makes my top 5 Joes (1.Bazooka 2.Flint 3.Dodger 4. Lady Jaye 5.Viper) the Marauder would have been much better as a Dreadnok vehicle.

Fun stuff happy to be following as many of your reviews for as long as I have. As for the reviews combo this vehicle takes my vote for one of the lowest of the worst vehicles in the Joe toyline ever. For me I never had nor was into the BF2000 vehicles when they were on the shelves and to this day dont have a single vehicle. I never had Dodger until just last year when I ot the two last BF2000 figures I didnt get in the two-packs and as a stand alone figure he has all the keys to a great Joe so am happy to have finally added him to my collection. As for BF2000 and the comic storyline it seems to reflect Larry Hama's dislike for the idea that had probably been forced upon him. The Future Fortress is just as stupid as it ever got and look in the commercial how it magically grows to new heights enough to dwarf a Cobra WOLF!

You noticed the scale change in the animation, eh? I wasn't sure anyone would pick up on that, and since I haven't been reviewing the commercials, I didn't point it out. They animated it much larger than it really would be. Otherwise, it really would have looked weak even in the quick-paced animated commercial! That doesn't sell the toy very well.
