HCIN -- The Health Care Interpreter Network

The Health Care Interpreter Network is a collaborative of hospitals and providers that share the services of their trained language interpreters over a video and voice network.
By pooling resources, these providers help guarantee that any patient who walks in the door of any member hospital will receive high-quality, timely care
in a language he or she can understand.

I think that HCIN should add American Sign Language interpreters on their service provided. It would be much helpful... not just different agency, it includes the use of medical language that interpreters are trained for to serve deaf communities all over the U.S.

HCIN does have American Sign Language! ASL interpreters seated at video units at hospitals in Madison, Chicago and Washington, D.C.take calls from providers and patients at their own hospitals and at member hospitals that do not have ASL interpreters on staff. Agencies are part of the mix, too, to ensure 24/7 coverage.
