Absolutely, the Russians showed skills and innovation. They also used to spend 2-3 months away from their families doing dry land training during the summer whereas the NHL players would get in shape only at training camp. The Russians taught us a lot.

Because they don’t want their careers stained by association with a regime committing genocide. Those who stay are exceptions-people willing to turn a blind eye to atrocities for money. So yes, anyone staying in ruzzia-coach, player, or otherwise-deserves to lose respect. They’ve chosen complicity over morality. And tbh... ruzzia is a shitty place to live and work in, it´s a third world country. Facts not opinion.

After the last Stanley Cup in 1993 the french canadian players were all trade, today the "Canadiens de Montréal" look like a NATO players private club and it's seem that the main goal now is to win a Stanley cup without the Flying Frencmen for the first time in the history of the team. Bien entendu, s'il y a moins de joueurs du Québec dans la LNH c'est sûrement de notre faute pas la faute de ceux qui depuis 30 ans ont brisé le rêve de tout Canadien-Français de jouer pour le CH parce qu'il a été décidé que le CH ne serait pas le club nationale du Québec. En passant je connais bien la Russie et Mr. Rotenberg savait probablement déjà combien peu de joueur du Québec jouait avec le CH alors que les deux émissaires du Canadiens devant lui plaidaient la cause d'un joueur russe en Russie , plus ridicule que ça tu meurt.

А как по другому? Так уж сложилось что НХЛ это лучшая лига мира. Другой такой, увы, не будет. Играть в НХЛ мечта любого хоккеиста. И при первой же возможности все валят. Санкции накладывали не они. Я думаю что любой адекватный тренер или менеджер из Канады понимает что без участия России все эти МЧМ и ЧМ меркнут.

КХЛ сама отказалась от компенсаций, потому что в начале своего становления чинуши думали, что засыпят все баблом и все нхловцы прибегут назад, ну и 400к баксов, которые нхл хотела платить по тому курсу чинушам показались копейками. В итоге за баблом в кхл приехали единицы, типо Ковальчука, который 10 лямов баксов в ска получал. Все остальные как ехали в нхл так будут ехать.

I’m a fan of the Montreal Canadiens, but I agree with you that there should be compensation for signing players from Russia. I’m sure the NHL teams would not be opposed to it knowing that it would provide a clear path to obtaining talent from Russia. It’s currently seen as a gamble to draft Russian players.
