Bruno Mars has probably the most feminine male voice in the industry. I bet he could change his timbre to sound like a female if he really wanted to. Tone can be altered. Take Mitch Grassi for an example. His voice is lower than Bruno Mars, but he sings in a very forward placement and uses falsetto alot so people think he has a more feminine voice at core. The placement and engagements of different formants is very important when it comes to timbre.

Ok peeps, this is getting annoying. Just because you saw on Wikipedia that countertenors are the highest voice, that's simply because they use upper head tones, and falsetto. I'm not saying all counter tenors are baritones, I'm just saying that their main craft is singing with an alto or soprano timbre. This guy is obviously a high heavy tenor because of his extended chest voice range.

Yes. They just use different amount of chest resonance versus head resonance. Above F#4 there's always at least a little bit of head resonance along with a woman's chest notes. What changes from singer to singer is how much head resonance they choose to add to their mixed voice. Singers like Christina Aguilera use very little head resonance when mixing/belting, while someone like Beyonce uses a bit more head resonance in her belts. Using too much chest can be dangerous for the voice.

If that’s how you’re defining mix, then every note is technically a mix. You use a little bit of head voice and chest voice in virtually all notes, otherwise they sound pitchy and muted. It seems silly to define mix so loosely, but then again I don’t see a point in holding people’s chest and head registers as different instruments where you only care about 1, so maybe we agree on that.

You use mixed voice whether you have training or not... Training hones your mix, it doesn't create it. And again, it's not possible to hit notes like a G#4 in complete chest voice. There is at least a little bit of head resonance. It might be a chesty sound, but it is not full chest voice. "Chest voice" and "mixed voice" are often used interchangeably, but they're technically different things.

Bruno has never impressed me with his strained belts. I'm not sure if his a real countertenor. He pull the notes above G#4 and his tone gets thinner as high as he goes. I used to like him when I didn't have any sense of how a vocalist should sing, but now...
@JasminGardenia4 жыл бұрын
Hmm Countertenors generally don't belt though
@rii12403 жыл бұрын
@@JasminGardenia yes they do but not as high as female some Cases belt/mixed in Soprano range
@JasminGardenia3 жыл бұрын
@@rii1240 No. Countertenor is not a biological voice type, it's an opera role type performed by tenors and baritones who sing with an operatic bel canto technique in head voice. They don't belt. There are males who can go veeery high/reach the 6th octave in a contemporary mix though... but those are not countertenors

I wouldn't even say that he's a disappointment vocally or that he has poor use. His technique is not very bad and he can sing very well in tune, especially live. I can say that there is more room for improvement, but Bruno is a great talent and I look up to him as a singer and overall musician. Chris Brown is the one with the poor vocal talent and it is pretty evident live. Bruno smokes and that is the thing that causes him to strain.

I don’t know if I’m a baritone My range is D#2 to F#4 in chest voice, my head voice goes comfortably up to C6 (then I have like another bridge) and I move on to a C#7 without issues, I have a very very light timbre (it’s quite feminine though) so, I’m in a doubt, maybe I’m a tenor that has to improve their upper range or a baritone with a very light tone, it’s weird. If someone can tell me where I’m in I would be grateful haha, my singing teacher says that I’m a baritone and a tenor, like a mixture. It’s really confusing
@jakobfowler6 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure I’m a tenor. My vocal rang chest voice wise is about E2-G#4 reliably. Sometimes I can reach up to C5 I just need to loosen up on high notes.

He dont sounds like a countertenor he sound like a light lyric tenor and he use much his head voice, certainly he have a great control of his voice like michael jackson or freedy mercury, i am a tenor but i will never reach above a D5 with my mix voice like him

Well he still disapoints me, only reason he can touch upper 4th and 5th octave notes is because his tessitura is relativley high, but I still dont think he executes notes that well. Im not saying hes bad, but there lies the reason why he is a bit disapointing to me.

I really like Bruno Mars' voice. He has a beautiful voice from A3 to F4 range. His high notes sound too stressed and unnatural due to smoking, drinking and possible drug use and as well as improper technique. He need to work on building better breath support, resonance, clarity and fullness....That will help in his higher range belts. His lows are not all that better...They are weak, foggy and unsupported. Underneath all that, he has an amazing voice.
