Should be dual-mode locomotives in the future to take advantage of Amtrak catenary for oil conservation while running under the catenary.

So Cool! I remember seeing long freight trains on the north east corridor many years ago. Where was that freight train going to?

I didn't think there was a Conrail anymore?

The trackage, in particular terminal trackage in North and South Jersey, Philly and Detroit was considered too complex to divvy up between NS and CSX and was organized and operates under "Conrail Shared Assets (CSAO)". It does not have it's own motive power, but instead is leased power from its parent companies NS and CSX.

how fast do freights travel on the NEC and how often can you see that?
@Mike77E99 жыл бұрын
+Amtrak and AWVR Fan I believe their max is 50, but i'm not positive. There's a local that runs during the day out of Metuchen down as far as Jersey Ave, that runs 5 days a week. The yard transfer job, ME-47 is normally nocturnal except Sundays, that will run in the afternoon.
@AlexTraxxas7 жыл бұрын
Not conrail. It's csx NS combo.
@Mike77E97 жыл бұрын
This is a Conrail train, which is jointly owned by CSX and NS to do local service and terminal switching in NJ and Detroit
@AlexTraxxas7 жыл бұрын
Not conrail if Conrail doesn't exist anymore.
@KingCarterTomRewritten6 жыл бұрын
it's conrail shared assets which is a split between Norfolk Southern and csx but conrail still operates some areas
@APettyJ4 жыл бұрын
@@AlexTraxxas Conrail still exists. Look up "Conrail Shared Assets".

i thought amtrak required a caboose when they use the NEC?
@Mike77E99 жыл бұрын
+cliff w I believe they only require it if there's any extended shoving on the NEC

Nice video Mike! How often does ME-84 run, and what time about?
@Mike77E99 жыл бұрын
Northeast Railfanning Productions Thanks! The Oak Island to Metuchen Job usually runs a few times a week. They seem to be pretty consistent with Sundays around 4 lately
