Cloud challenged Chaos in a fight. Player will then enter a fight using Cloud vs Chaos. However, after Cloud won, Chaos killed Cloud with his mighty power. Cloud last wish was to send message to Cosmos and hope she could protect Tifa. Cosmos get the message, and chose Cloud as her warrior in 013.

Richard Shiflett Cloud wanted Cosmos to save Tifa from being killed by the clones because you can't be brought back if you're killed by them cuz they don't count as soldiers for the war between Chaos and Cosmos. The ending is weird, but it seems like Shinryu saved her at the last second and brought them home maybe?

Cloud: ......Please tell me you're joking. Cosmos: Oh it was a real bloodbath. There was barely enough left of them for Shinryu to even dismiss when purification time came. Cloud: ... Even if this game is non canon, I love how it showed that Cloud would rather die than fight Tifa. He did warn her after all that if they met again, it would be as enemies so he tried to change that. Reminds me of KH2 where he was trying to avoid her so his Darkness (Sephiroth) wouldn’t kill her

Cosmos and Chaos are the MCs of it but each character is important all on their own. It is battle yes but its linked so each has a role and story in it. Its HEAVILY based in FF1s story and its one of those things you need to play to understand it.

@Firdagniriel First of all, the Japanese version made Tifa out to be a "dear" friend. Second of all, Tifa IS Cloud's friend. A friend Cloud deeply cares about, a friend who Cloud jumped in to protect without a second thought despite her being on the other side, and ultimately a friend for whom Cloud fought against the freaking God of discord himself. Yes, you can certainly fall in love with a friend. It's called reading between the lines, which is something "Cleriths" have no concept of.

no love for chaos? he could have obliterated Cloud with a single blow at any time, but instead gave him a chance to beat him, just to prove that Cloud was completely helpless against him on his own. Also, that breaking speech was epic.

It also mirrors Chaos' personal thoughts on the matter. You wouldn't know it to look at him, but Chaos himself has long lost any hope of escaping the constant cycles of conflict. In fact, the power he's gained over the course of 12 cycles has made him forget what this conflict is even truly about in the first place. So when he learns the truth in the 13th cycle... he doesn't take it well.

Have to say, putting the voice of Keith David as Chaos was a great choice. Guess this makes his second time portraying a gargoyle like creature (he was Goliath in Disney's Gargoyles).

I think it was a nice touch making him ask Cosmos to protect his friend while he was dieing, its not full on Cloud x Tifa but it shows that he cares about her :)

I love this scene so much, Chaos figuratively bitchslaps Cloud into Oblivion without so much as touching him. I think this kinda messes up the power scaling in Final Fantasy though, Warrior of Light has defeated Chaos before with a single strike in "Memory of Heroes".

well both are from different canon, in Dissidia Chaos was a god and got stronger as the cycles went on by that point it was the 12th cycle. this Chaos is nothing compared to Feral Chaos

Probably just due to luck. Note that even Terra and Tidus were picked to be chaos warriors too. But Dissidia doesn’t really diversify this selection and perhaps put someone like Kefka or Sephiroth on Cosmo’s side. Most good guys still remain on Cosmo’s side while the bad ones on Chaos’ side

If Aerith was in Tifa's position and Cloud would have said "Save my friend, Aerith" Then of course Clotis would say "Aha!! Cloud only said friend! He underestimates all of his opponents, and thus they always perform a Cloud-esque magic-comeback victory. And then he gets to sit around in the negative lifestream and wonder why he lost, lol.

The real Cloud would never lose to the real Chaos it is considered canon that even a noob Cloud would be more than a match for Chaos. Why Cloud pwns Chaos: 1. Cloud is from a further ahead time than Chaos. 2. The future pwns the past hard. 3. Therefore, Cloud would easily destroy Chaos and even Kefka.
