I was an exchange student to Niigata in 1983. I was told that Sado Island was visible from the coast, on a clear day... never got to see Sado Island. Bucket list item now. (^;

I was also a foreign exchange student to Niigata but in 1969. I never saw Sado Island from the coastline but my Japanese family took me to there for a weekend trip via the big ship. It was such a great experience.
