This really is an unusual service pattern and I'm surprised that they couldn't use the 3rd platform as a passing loop to reduce the service gap for the inner-city stations. If accessibility on the third platform wasn't a concern, they could have run a shuttle-swap operation at Stadium. I guess there isn't currently a desire to install a lift/elevator for that platform due to how infrequently it would be used. Interesting occurrence though - thanks for sharing!

As said elsewhere, I argue that such a service should/could have used track 1 between Burrard and Stadium and not track 3 at stadium.

This switch maintenance resulted in one of the most varied destination boards I've ever seen. Terminating destinations for trains included Production Way-University, Lougheed Town Centre, Braid, King George, Stadium-Chinatown, Granville, Burrard and Waterfront. Imagine a tourist's surprise when they see eight different terminus stations on a metro system that onle has three lines. Also would anyone happen to know the difference between switches starting with DC and FP? For example what makes a switch DC10 and not FP10?

1) Right on the dot. I have a picture of the platform destination screens with Braid-King George-Production on one side and Waterfront-Burrard-Granville on the other side. It was a sight to behold. 2) Regarding DC/FP, I think it's DC before a divergence and FP before a merge, and it does not apply when on the crossover. Could be wrong though.

They couldn't use that 3rd platform for either Waterfront or King George/Production trains?
@jmstransit7 ай бұрын
there are no elevators to that platform. Rather, I was more concerned about a missed opportunity to run a smaller shuttle train from Burrard to Stadium. I guess the work zone didn't allow it or something. It was also just one day, so
