Axl was great, considering he's a baritone, his vocal range is absolutely something to think about, he sounds like there's three people singing inside him lol. And his songs are very destructive, it's very challenging to sing them live while he's running all around instead of just staying still. I honestly still haven't heard anyone sound like Axl to this day lol also Axl whistles in "You're Crazy" acoustic.

Apart from Adam, Von, Jairo and Nicola, the rest were screams not whistle notes; many people can scream high pitches, the addition of melody to it is what distinguishes it and makes it a whistle note!
@micku22168 жыл бұрын
But most of those screams were controlled and produced via neutral larynx position. Screams can be melodic (and most of these were) as much as whistle notes, not to mention that the technique required to healthily and properly distort upper notes, e.g. via screaming, is extremely difficult and calls for a lot of vocal discipline.
@GarageStudio78 жыл бұрын

I was not talking about whistle register. There is more to singing than whistle register, and you are probably one of those sad little persons who got obsessed with the idea of having whistle register and now fails to have their own life, and instead chooses to throw criticism without any claims, or arguments to back up his critique. Sad.

It would be better to focus on whistle notes that are well-supported with breath control versus the screaming that will damage the vocal chords. Even overprolonging a note without proper support will damage the chords. It's easy to hit a note through physical excitement or abnormal vocal mechanics, even straining, versus using safe practices in singing purely. Some singers have had to adopt proper singing techniques or even stop singing for a while, talking no higher than a whisper or hushed lower tones because their chords have been damaged. It's safe to say that all these screamers "drove" the note clear out of what could have been their natural vocal range. They could when they were younger, but they simply cannot do what they used to now that they are decades older. Understandably some music genres don't call for pure vocalising as would softer genres like Classical, R&B, Pop, and softer Soul music, but it's unknown whether or not some of these screamin' rockers actually used full-voiced vocals at one point or were trained to do so. Just as one can learn visually to perform a certain manual task or learn a physical (even an athletic) skill, one can learn audibly so as to hear a well-supported whistle note and hit the note as it is sounded - this technique is used with piano-training aspiring vocalists. After watching this video I've realised the number of times I've screamed whistle notes and thinking I actually hit the note, when really I only used Drive or else Falsetto, NOT a Full-Voiced tone. However, after humming and sliding up the range, I've discovered I can actually hum a G6 - mouth moderately opened and lips nearly closed, sometimes completely closed - and slide up to a B6 with the lips opening slightly as the pitch increases. I can also yawn and slide into, and even disconnectively hit a G6, because yawning forces the body to breathe properly. So if you can hum the note, you can hit the note even with the lips nearly closed and mouth open and positioned. The same is true with Drive: hit a low note (somewhere in the 3rd Octave) while the mouth is moderately opened and the lips are nearly closed, and because lower notes are easier to growl, gently open the lips to increase the pitch. Later, one can hit a higher open-mouthed growl with the lips nearly closed and open the lips more to increase pitch. After the note is developed, then one can let it out with some heart into it. The same technique is used for singing, the lip motions are usually all that's needed to achieve a sliding higher note. So...with all the hilarious screaming, yowling cats aside, some good Tenour and Countertenour notes to focus on are: A6 - 4:40 - Jairo Bonfim Bb6 - 4:52 - Adam Lopez B6 - 5:10 - Adam Lopez (and 5:36 - Prince) C7 - 5:58 - Nicola Sedda D7 - 6:35 and 6:51 - Adam Lopez, (7:11 - Jairo Bonfim) Eb7 - 7:22, 7:34 (better supported than 7:22 and well-sustained! - Nicola Sedda) E7 - 7:45 - Von Smith, 7:51 - Adam Lopez, 8:12 (very beautiful! - Nicola Sedda) F7 - 8:26 - nice effort by Nicola Sedda G7 - 8:51 - Adam Lopez Eb8 - 9:08 - Adam Lopez, of course! Adam Lopez and Nicola Sedda were both Tenours first, then developed into Countertenours, yet although Nicolla may not be classically trained and relies on his talent much, akin to Mitch Grassi of Pentatonix, he uses very good vocal technique. Adam and Nicola singers set good examples for younger, aspiring vocalists. Even Prince's efforts are nice. Even though Tenours have an advantage in achieving the Whistle Register, even some Lyric Baritones have achieved notes as high as a Full-Voiced B6...like myself.
