For me, the whistle has to have a point in a song musically and not just be a stunt. There were a couple of good examples in here, but most for me were just high pitched noise.

you're right, that's why most singers don't even bother learning it. It's a very useless part of your voice and it's quite difficult to learn, the return on investment for learning it is not worth it for most people.

Really, the whistle register should only be used when it’s effective, not just because you can do it. And there’s a difference between good and bad. With that being said, it’s amazing they can produce those sounds!

Yes he use reverse phonation and its not that healthy, with inhale whistles i was able to hit notes like g7 or bb7

From a technical standpoint there are two types of whistle notes! the first one is the whistle register that is preceived as the true whistle register where there isa lot of air passing through the vocal chords and the vocal chords dont even come together at all and the sound is produced by pushing out air and its often easier to acces when someone is sick or congested or has a stuff nose cause when youa re sick you have that added crack and hoarseness in your voice that actually lets you push air and create a whistle note! Most classical vocal experts consider this to be the ture whistle register and its actually the least understood in vocal pedagogy and human anatomy! Mariah carey and minie ripperton are the two msot famous users of this airy type of whistle eventhouh mariah also can do other types of fuller whistle by extending the headvoice! We then segway into this extended headvoice as the second way to produce whistle notes! You can reach extreme high notes that are in the whistle register by extending your headvoice! This headvocie extension of whistle is starting to get some attention and is starting to get some recognision as a true whistle register aswell! Using headvoice to reach whistle notes is actually different since its 100% connected range! Its part of your actual vocal range and the vocal chords do have conenction and there is way less air and sometimes no air at all. This type of whistle is actually the most healthy and also the most pleasant to the air and more controllable since its part of your range and going higher or back down jsut slides back into your normal range where as the airy type is 100% disconnected fro mthe rest of your range and is more of 'trick' or vocal anomaly that one is born with. Mariah has nodules which lets her control the whistle register like her normal range as if it was nothing but she is born with a vocal anomaly aka the nodules. People with hoarse or scratchy voices often can hit those airy whistles aswell! And people with good vocal closure and well connected registers cant do those piercing airy notes! I prefer the headvoice version of whistle notes expect mariah carey's! her whistles are both airy and thick (headvoice) She can do both and sounds amazing with both!

I have a whistle register but it only comes through when I'm hoarse and my midrange goes away. My bass get stronger and my whistle range increases. The hard thing is to relax the larynx while pushing the vocal chords as close together as possible. I'd rather have my mid range.

I don't know if Geoff Tate has ever whistled, but Queensryche Rage for Order has many wide range vocal songs in a male voice that sounds like a metal singer trained by an opera singer. Currently, Goeff is out of the band and so is Chris Degarmo...my two favorite bandmates. This is a live track from when they were both still driving forces in the band. Have you ever heard of Vitas? I'd recommend the live performance of Vitas singing Dedication. No words. Just vocalization. He has some pretty amazing vocals. Also Opera #2 of his is incredible. I think you'd have a fun time with his vocals in general because he can manipulate it like he is an alien lol

@@ricardoortiz3174 I can assure he he does not lipsinc. I've been a fan of his for 14 years. I've seen him in concert twice, front row center both times. He sometimes sings without his band/music, and every concert he does a bit where doesn't even use his microphone. He does this to show the power he has in his voice and how it resonates throughout the theater. Unless you have proof that he lipsincs then provide information. Because it would be news to the millions of fans who have witnessed him LIVE in concert. Don't go around saying one word making lies about an artist you have no clue about. Thanks.

Being front row, you can hear the artist whether they are lipsincs or not. Every artist does. The best of the best does. Doesn't deny the fact that he is an amazing singer with an amazing register. If you want to be rude then continue. It doesn't prove anything to me. I know this artist and I know he has an out of this world range and his voice is not FAKE. is it that hard to understand? Normally people in the front row have a better seat when it comes to getting the whole experience as well as getting to hear their pure vocals.
