It's was a zany, crazy good ol' time watching the metal fly and hangin' out with my ATL buddy, the one and only, the king of planespotting narration and all-around aviation video at Atlanta, Mr. Matt Cochran.
Two days of planespotting magic in the Hot-lanta sun with thunderstorms and rain threatening here and there to record our second annual video-making session together. Even though we didn't actually quite score the rain shots we kept thinking we might get, the morning vapor was pretty darn-tootin' cool to see on the morning of my second day there.
This is a pretty awesome video ...not because of my filming really... but more because you can hear Matt making his version of our spotting adventures together in the background from time to time.
We're going behind the scenes shall we say.
The majority of the video is filmed from the top floor of the famous Renaissance Atlanta Airport Concourse Hotel that overlooks the north side of the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Maynard Jackson International Airport KATL/ATL, ... and of course per usual we gallivanted around the airport together in search of Maynard Magic and Mayhem.
The runways closest to the Renaissance Hotel are Runways 8L-26R and 8R-26L. The other location with the close-up takeoffs is the south parking lot deck for viewing runways 27L-9R, 27R-9L, 10-28.
Brandon, who helped me make the Orlando planespotting video I put together earlier this year (it now has over 40K views) happened to join us as well as did Matt's friend Mike.
...and Matt and I also ran into the world famous "The Jetsetter" of Instagram fame.
So settle down, pour yerself a spot of that wet and prepare to feast your sore eyes on this here 'nuther plane waterchery special from the camera of the "Tripodless Human Tripod" as Matt likes to call me. I reckon I's fixin' to...

I understand your point. I am such a 757 fan that I just can't get tired of 757's. I've been on 3 in my life and 2 were Delta out of Atkanta. I did enjoy all of the footage. I hope you enjoyed visiting some plane spotter friends from ATL. Our policy with spotting is to be quiet and to have mu U.K. Background noise to create a prifesinol environment but I know it can be hard. Anyways have a great 2017.

Well, you just got a new subscriber! Don't laugh, but I was just watching Wayne's World (hey, I"m a Gen X-er) and I wanted to see if anyone had actually taped themselves watching a plane fly overhead like they did in the movie and a few clicks later, I found your vids, haha. In all seriousness, thanks a lot for uploading these! They are beautifully shot and I love watching a plane's ascent/descent; such a cool reminder of the wonders the human mind is capable of.

Whoa! :-) Great Hookup with Matt! :-) JetBlue is coming back to Atlanta and Since Emirates Codeshare with them they will certainly start daily flights there. 2015 and 2016 saw Atlanta handle more than 100,000,000 Passengers in each of those years and the numbers keep on rising. China Eastern is keen on Atlanta as they will soon fly 777s to Houston alongside China Southern Airlines. I bet Matt's excited about Qatar Airways going to San Francisco next year as well as Las Vegas. Emirates will also fly to Las Vegas too.

An amazing video, just subscribed!! You probably know a lot about what's going on at ORD so I'll ask you. Are they adding 9 gates to T5? I read that somewhere but the people I talk to don't know anything about it so I am asking you. Thanks, and keep up the great work!!
@OHAREAVIATION
@OHAREAVIATION 7 жыл бұрын
They are adding gates at ORD to the T5 but I'm not sure exactly how many in total the final completed terminal will have. Here's is an article that has more info. The new extension could add up to 9 gates in total. www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/politics/ct-ohare-new-runways-met-0715-20160714-story.html
@matteotonelli2525
@matteotonelli2525 7 жыл бұрын
Is the T5 expansion going on right now? I read the article, and there's a picture with all the sketches of what the final layout could look like, but it's a little fuzzy to see. Most of the ones that are in the picture I've seen on Google as well. Are there any renderings of the interiors? Those need a general refresh across all terminals, everything looks a little dated..

7:36 Why was this 767 getting towed forward????? Aren't tugs just for pushing the planes back from the gate?
@OHAREAVIATION
@OHAREAVIATION 7 жыл бұрын
Tugs are used to move airplanes in any way both backwards and forwards... backwards does tend to be the most common use however. Often times when I fly into L.A. they have to tow the airplane into the gate after it arrives at the terminal because of the tight fit that exists there. A ground crew has better visibility of where the wingtips are and can often more effectively position an aircraft to an exact space on a ramp.

Would be cool! I'll try to swing by CVG someday soon. Fun fact: long before I created this KZbin channel I made some of my first attempts at aviation video there at CVG at the spotter park.
