here's a tip, use hair pins to keep them curled. for the last curl on one unit, i use a hairpin to hold the paper and then twist it, untwist it a little to get the hair pin out and use the pin to hold the curl.

indeed. I haven't accomplished anything much for now so I'm making myself feel better about myself by folding origami and showing off to people. But I do enjoy making it. :)

First two steps is the classical "get 30 degrees" fold, used in many hexagon/equilateral triangles based designs, and the kusudama itself is the regular dodecahedron, which consists of 12 equilateral pentagons. Incredible beauty, I must admit B-) Thanks, Tadashi, thanks, Krystyna!

Imma do this when I get my hands on some legit Origami paper. Up until now I've been able to pull off some surprisingly complex origami with easily obtainable construction paper, but one thing I've noticed that kills any chances of using that here: Construction paper does NOT hold a curl well at all.

Really beautiful! When assembling parts, i uncurl as little as possible, but instead persuade the curls into one another using a toothpick. Appears the joints get tighter this way. Just completed one using 5 x 5 regular origami paper, it looks nice upon completion though a bit small (7.5 cm from opposite ends)

Thanks for the tutorial! It helped a lot. One tip at 8.16: join the 2 flowers at two points instead of one. So if one flower is surrounded by 5 flowers, in every point 3 flowers are joined. This stabilizes the kusudama. :) Happy folding!
@shoom76667 жыл бұрын
that makes the model's symmetry different, and the entire process is changed. it goes from icosidodecahedral symmetry to simple dodecahedral symmetry.

So I followed the video using the grey side as my color side, for the model section, but when you changed paper, it was different. I'm assuming the blue paper is double sided. I was using a lovely one sided marble and ended up with a primarily white flower. Next time you made one of these videos, I would advise mentioning the best paper to use : double sided, or no. My nice colored paper is all shitty looking now.
