Thanks ReNewReView. I am new with this. I’d just bought 737 from PMDG and you answered me a lot of questions specially a simple one like what V1 is standard for.
@ReNewReViews110 жыл бұрын
V1 is basically a speed reference, so it changes with flights usually dependant upon weight of the aircraft, thrust rating of the engines etc.. you have many V references.. main ones being V1, Vr and V2.. V1 is basically the calculated speed at which you must be commited to takeoff.. so say if its 132 knots as soon as we hit 132 knots we must commit to taking off regardless of any failure. Vr is simply rotate, so obviously the speed at which the pilot would perform the takeoff rotation. V2 is the safe climbing speed which is obviously the speed at which is the minimum they shjould at least be climbing at which is safe.

Generally speaking, you program your arrival (even your STAR) during cruise. It's nice to be able to set it all up ahead of time (and you can get away with it if you're not simulating ATC), but that's why it's all selectable from the CDU. You just pick the best STAR for the arrival ATC wants you to do and program it in.

When you take off, at least 500 feet above ground, or more if you wanna fly the climb, you'll press lnav (controls lateral movement) and vnav (controls vertical movement and engine thrust) located on the mcp. Press z to engage auto pilot and it'll follow the route. FYI you need to have the mcp altitude at your cruising altitude before takeoff, or it wont climb to it, as well as lowering it while in the air before decending, or it wont decend.
@juancamiloza10 жыл бұрын
You can't select a takeoff cg taking as reference the crz cg, because they are different stages of flight with different fuel weight distribution. So if you trim the aircraft for takeoff as if you where cruising, you'll need to apply lots of pressure to the yoke (push or pull)

I had the same problem too when I tried to program the FMC for a KATL to KJAX; even though I was at gate A 26, I actually had to type in gate "0". What you have to do is go into the SIDSTARS folder of your PMDG directory and click on the text file of your airport (for me it was labeled "KATL" for Atlanta). The gate numbers should be listed on the bottom.

I believe that the TRIM that you enter is the take-off trim, not anything to do with trim for the whole flight. It's allows the pilot to use minimum effort on the controls when rotating. Could be wrong, though! I'm not a pilot.

Transition Alt in the U.S. is always FL180 and all that means that you're in Class A airspace which goes up to FL600. In class A, you can only be IFR and you just switch threw center controllers.

Hi Jappie! the answer to that question is ..NO. the reference manuals are there to do just that! "Reference". meaning, Pull them out if they need to run an abnormal checklist or something like that. now, do pilots have to 'know' nearly every inch of this airplane, and have training that crams them full of knowledge and understanding about nearly 'every system' on the Bird? YES. but they don't have to 'store' and recall, every byte of info they've learned, in their heads. it's in the books

Adam Desjardins Speaking of saying "things you don't know" and leading "people into thinking false things": The Transition Altitude (TA) has nothing to do with entering class A airspace whatsoever. Below and at the TA, the altimeter is set to the local QNH and the vertical position of an aircraft is reffered to as "altitude". Above the TA, QNH is set to ATM (29.92 inHg or 1013mb) and the vertical reference is "Flight Level". And assumed temperature is NOT used to save fuel (biggest bullshit I ever heard) but to reduce engine wear. the difference in fuel consumption between a "flex"/"assumed temperature thrust reduction" T/O and a regular T/O is not really worth mentioning...
@drumdude4611 жыл бұрын
pressing the "ALT HOLD" button, does JUST THAT. if STOPS a current climb or descent, at the altitude your aircraft is at, at the "time' you pressed the button. for a climb, set a higher altitude that what you currently are at, IN the Alt. Pre-Select Window, then choose a Vertical Mode ie; FLC (flight level change) VS (vertical speed...the simplest for beginners) or VNAV, the most complex. the later takes some understanding, practice, and ideally, some study and reading of how it works

What a brilliant tutorial, it has cleared a few things for me. I have spent the best part of 3 days trying to work it. I just have 2 questions, how do I find the best SIDS for the route I take. Example; EGLL to EIDW, runway 27R, it gives me at least 8 SIDS to choose from. Is there a site that shows the location. I looked at the free flight route, but it only shows way points not the actual SIDS. And lastly if, I picked the wrong SIDS, how can I delete that waypoint without having to start in cold and dark to refresh FMC. I appreciate any help or your time to resolve my issues 😀👍

Bro ur a hero-thanks-this helped a mill. One question though (non-related). U know how the PMDG's come with operating manuals. Now i'm not sure if u know the answer to this, but before real world commercial pilots can fly for an airline, do they have to know ALL that in those manuals? For instance, the one PDF manual (FCOMv2) that's 1240 pages..now i know those manuals are just for reference but in the real world, once again, does a pilot need to know every little detail of those manuals? Cheers
@benjiminus046 жыл бұрын
Good video, but @ 16:16 the cost index would never be 100%. Most airlines use something between 20 - 25%. That is why it told you that your max CRZ ALT was only. 11,000 ft.

Thanks for your video, need some help. I ran into problem with the auto pilot for PMDG 737. Sometimes i could activate the auto pilot during take off, other times, it wouldn't light up at all. For auto pilot to be activated, I understand that there are two conditions: 1. Set altitude, or 2. program the route in FMC, Since I'm doing a quick flight to test VS and FLC in auto pilot mode, I set the altitude only. But during the climb, the auto pilot button didn't light up when I press the button. Which step did I miss out?
