Now I can actually see what you're doing! Thanks for the reupload, hope you've got everything sorted for new videos (more coming soon?)

Unfortunately no more new work videos for now. I have a what’s the plan video up on Patreon that will be released on KZbin soon. We are pulling the air intake in February but January’s work tapped me out on budget

Pretty sure that wasnt an explosion but what you probably heard was a rather large bolt being sheered off, then again it couldve been the springs adjusting because the control center floats and the weight of the center was changing. the sound really reminded me of jacking up a car with a broken strut

Right? I was thinking something breaking loose or shifting, due to the water draining, possibly causing a bit of a vacuum in the escape tube.

One of the things you may have noticed is the clamshell only moves in one axis and has no pivot points on it. The best way to seal and unseal this hatch is to alternate between the top and bottom bolt. What happens over time is opening the top a certain distance and starts to put tension on the clamshell threads causing binding.

You know I might be wrong, but it’s possible that the pop was a type of pressure relief. It happens when an area has been AIR TIGHT for a very prolonged period of time. Like when you open an Egyptian tomb. They make a odd sound. Also when two separate tunnels met at the COMSTOCK MINE, the owner was almost killed when the pickaxe popped the first hole in the separating wall,the difference in pressure from the tunnels with two different heights caused a near literal explosion.

I'm curious, why do you suppose that the end of that 1 1/2 pipe looks like it may have exploded? If I'm looking at it correctly it appears that the end cap may have exploded. There are pieces laying around the area from the end cap. Just a thought.

Is it possible the loud bang was caused by something falling, maybe a spring settling? if there was no sign of an explosion anywhere, the only other reasonable assumption is that something fell.
@atomicunderground9971
@atomicunderground9971 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah we looked into that. Couldn't find anything. Even dropped a metal bar and it was a totally different sound.
@Grim0954
@Grim0954 5 жыл бұрын
I would think a spring settling. Like tectonic plates building up tension/compression and letting loose. Wouldn't you have felt a pressure wave if it were a methane explosion? Even a little one?
@EnderMalcolm
@EnderMalcolm 5 жыл бұрын
@@atomicunderground9971 A methane explosion certainly would have left a lot of smoke, carbon residue, and the compression wave would have knocked things around. There likely would have been quite a flash even downstairs, and a temperature difference. Maybe a support beam or well somewhere gave way. it kinda sounded like a tension-based metallic noise. When you stretch a section of re bar, the metal can have little fractures form, giving off a loud pinging sound. Of course, I'm no scientist. Maybe a piece of blue ice randomly fell out of the sky and landed on your roof.

Posting what I said in the other vid here for those who didn't watch that one: My first thought was sudden pressure equalization. But it could have been something that had bowed due to high pressure which bounced back when the pressure dropped. After giving it a bit more thought (a little over an hour), I think the explosion could have been a spring resettling considering the amount of water that used to be there.

it sounded like a large heavy thing (didn't bounce) falling over and slamming against the floor with the reverberation making it sound bigger.

We are digging from the top right now. We hit clay about 5 feet down. It is nasty sticky stuff and I hope it doesn't go too far.

Possible, if the gas was diffuse enough that when it reached the right mixture with air to go bang, all the methane would have been consumed, hence none found after the fact.

Lots of people were complaining about it being 420p so I reuploaded it in 1080p (HD) and made some other minor tweaks. This is the only video I will be reuploading. Sorry if you didn't realize before clicking on it. I didn't want it to be clickbait.
