HD | Southwest Airlines 737-700 Descent & Landing at Dallas Love Field

Before I begin, I do apologize for the shakiness of the video during landing, but I will honestly say it was one of the roughest landings I've ever experienced and I tried my best to keep the camera steady.
The flight was fairly smooth for its entirety until we descended into Dallas. The pilot had informed us about some thunderstorms in the Dallas area, however he had expected them to dissipate before we arrived, but that was not the case. It appeared that we had begun our final approach, as the captain started to lower the flaps. However, shortly after that, the flaps went back up and we made a u-turn in the opposite direction, away from the airport. I noticed before the u-turn that the clouds continued getting darker, so my initial thought was that we had been diverted. I'm not sure why we made this circle and I don't think it was a go-around either. Also, it seemed that we were the last plane to land before the storm started, which was right after touchdown. Many flights after us were either diverted or delayed due to the storms. In the video you can see the heavy rain and strong winds from the storm, however soon after arriving at the gate there was a lot of close cloud-to-ground lightning. Despite the stormy weather, this was another successful trip on Southwest Airlines. Also, this was my first time flying into Dallas Love Field and I have to say I was very impressed despite the weather.

i betcha that a ground stop was issued just after your flight touched down. good judgement was used, obviously, by the flying pilot, and the approach seemed to be stabilized below 1,000ft....Just another day at the office for the tens of thousands of airline crew members who do their best, every day!

This was from a few years back, but if I'm not mistaken, I remember us being the last plane to see land. I honestly thought for sure we would divert. Also, all other departing flights were delayed I remember. But yes, great job by the crew landing in that nasty storm. (It got much worse after we parked) :)

First off, great video and angles. Secondly, I'm flying to Dallas in a few months, I'm flying southwest too so I wanted to know how is it getting around Love Field. Is it super busy? are there alot of restaurants? any issues with baggage claim? and lastly, how is the customer service? I know I asked a lot but I like to know people's personal experiences so I can contrast them with mine in the future. Out of all the airports I've been to around the country I have never stepped foot in a Texas airport. Thanks again.

Mike First off thanks, it means a lot! I will say this was my first time going to Love Field. There's only one concourse so it's pretty easy to navigate. Crowd-wise it's not too bad and there is a food court in the middle of the concourse with a variety of restaurants to choose from. Not sure about baggage claim as I was connecting to New Orleans and customer service was good. :)

I appreciate your post but this is not a stormy landing. I will say SWA is known to push the bounds with thunderstorms but trust me, there's nothing stormy about this example. Enjoyed the video for sure. Thank you for sharing!
