This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square devoted to the 68th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November 1985. This year would see the ascension of Mikhail Gorbachev as General Secretary of the CPSU, making him leader of the USSR. His first year saw increasing Cold War tensions continue (they would not begin to calm down until 1987). Taking the salute is Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union Sergei Sokolov. +james david manning And if you take into account the 1984 November parade, they had continuous military parades every six months from November 1984, May, and through November 1985. I don't know if they could accomplish such a feat in modern day Russia. And even with the declining Soviet economy they managed to do the same thing again starting in November 1989, May and through November 1990.

I think the DPRK had Soviet style parades during the Kim Il Sung era, the Kim Jong Il and early Kim Jong Un era were just… Bouncing soldiers, and the 2020 - present parades I think are Chinese based, although they look more like a pop concert rather than a military parade now, a far cry from the glorious parades from the past.

There were still partisans in pockets of Lithuania and Ukraine into the 1950s. Chechens were routinely murdering Russians during the existence of the USSR. That stability was a lie.

the most impressive parade march in the soviet union is probably east german ddr Nva. doing the goose step.. they we're the bad guys but sure they looked great when they marched and their parade musik wasn't bad either in the DDR!
