This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November 1987. In this year Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev's reforms of Perestroika continued to gain steam, with more liberalizing economic and political reforms starting to take place. The idea being Perestroika was a direct continuation of October, and this certainly seems to be reflected by the theme of this year's parade. Units dressed in Russian Revolution and Civil War era uniforms can be seen, along with soldiers dressed in Great Patriotic War era uniforms as well. In the following month the historical INF Treaty would be signed in Washington DC by Gorbachev and US President Ronald Reagan - eliminating an entire class of nuclear missiles. Taking the salute is newly appointed defense minister, General of the Army Dmitriy Yazov. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, Colonel General Vladimir Arkhipov (his last parade). Music performed by the Combined Orchestra of the Moscow Garrison conducted by Major General Nikolai Mikhailov. Part II here: • Soviet October Revolut...

YOU HAD TO WAIT 10 YEARS TO BUY A GODDAMN CAR. And im not joking. Now, all of my grandparents suffered when they were children from the 47-48 attrition. Bet u never heard of it. The entire family of their uncle died in Siberia cause he was deported, which happened to about 3 million people. At school there was massive propaganda. After you graduate the university u didnt get to choose a job. You had to work where they told you to. Ask your gramp, if it was so good, why the hell did it come back? @@Davitofrito You are right about the west, but allow me to remember that the soviets sponsored, encouraged and presumably even created the leftist movements from western Europe, that is, imo, the very reason why the west is now the way it is. I think our salvation as europeans is the US.

At 10:10 you can see Lenin, but Trotsky (who was standing next to him in the original 1918 picture) is still not shown by the Stalinist caste. Unlike many of Stalin's victims, Leon Trotsky was never rehabilitated. Maybe it was because he never surrendered to the bureaucracy that killed off in the USSR on 25 December 1991!
