The stage music actually really surprises me. It tells me that ZUN actually has a much wider range of musical talent than I first though. Of course when I first heard Touhou music I already respected him as a great composer...but this...I'm actually in awe on his ability to create other styles of music as well.

This is true. It's always interesting listening to his music CDs and such because he'll regularly pull stuff you wouldn't expect at all.

I think Normal on this could be comparable to either Hard or Lunatic on some of the past games. Especially after Stage 3. Also, there's something about the spellcard and music at 3:52 that just makes it...Almost entrancing. I can't wait to find out what it looks like on Lunatic.

You mean the hitbox? Hold shift, it shows the hitbox and it also slows down your movement for more precise dodges and increases the power of your weapon.

The download is just a demo, it only has stages 1-3. For 4-6 and the extra you need to buy the game (import it from Japan.)

It is good to hear although I started playing the PC-98 Touhou games after Subterranean Animism, but I am still touched to see something bearing resemblance to the old Touhou games ~~

@SadisticPenguinOfAND problem is... that for being good you need to be stubborn for MONTHS even a year! i've played touhou 4 months and in this time i've only mastered easy mode i've still being continue'd on level 4 or 5 in normal!

The final spell is a such a huge pain if you're trying to clear off a continue =(

I've been stuck trying to unlock this stage on lunatic for the past 7 hours and have run the stage over 200 times to no success. I'm not good enough either ;_; I feel like I'm going to pick IN or something up after this and it's going to feel completely trivial though.

This stage was a blast. The final attack is ridiculous though... I'll go into more when I do commentary. For now, Nue is beginning to really piss me off! =P

Given that the setting is Makai I think it's mainly ZUN's way of saying PC-98 is still canon, basically.

It's absolutely brutal. Faster bullets, more bullets, tiny gaps, unforgiving timings, streaming sections almost completely non-existent.... Makes it fun and different =)

Shinki, Remilia, and Yuyuko like attacks are seen. ZUN MUST have heavily been basing attacks off of the old games in this one.

Well, you *can* download it, but that would be an illegal link. It's hard to find it currently any other way though, especially if you live outside of Japan. Remember to give ZUN some beer money!

Ooohh. Really? I should've researched a little more. HRtP takes place in Makai as well, but i doubt any references from it were used in here. I only see MS references.

Actually, this battle is even set in Makai, where most of Mystic Square takes place. ZUN really did a great job here.

Haha, that's a bit embarrassing. At the time I was more or less suffering information overload, too busy psyching myself up for the final stage, looking at bullets, and shooting a UFO... My brain kind of glitched and when I saw the bomb out of the corner of my eye and I instinctively dodged it =P I didn't even realize I had until I saw the replay, gave me a good laugh.

It's no slouch on Easy either. I kept getting stuck on Stage 4 Normal (have this suicidal desire to collect every red UFO possible), so I thought I'd give EZMODO a try. After much trial and error on both Stages 5 and 6, I finally managed to do a perfect run of 6, getting to Byakuren with 3 lives and 3 bombs. I managed to survive up to her final spell, lost all my lives on it, and right as she was exploding at the end, I ran into a bullet. Fuck you, ZUN.

Even if this is harder, I'll take it. The game looks so furnished compared to Touhou 11 or 10. It goes on to show how ZUN improves by a mile every game he makes.
