It's neat to hear snippets of all the different languages spoken as the camera passes through. I've caught bits of French, Italian, German, Spanish, and a smattering of different English dialects, as well as what must have been some Middle Eastern languages too.

You see I would love to see all the sisters of Disney! Each one is unique and different, and each one feels like a different expierence all together! By the way guys its all about the Disney expierence. People shouldn't really judge a park because it has less rides and everything. Its still a beauitful place!

Well, DLP has less of the disney magic to accomodate the European mentality. Im from Spain, and Disney Paris is my park, I have been there countless of times and its great. But I have also been to WDW and Hong Kong and those two have a more disney experience, with a more noticeable American experience and mentality. It was great, but sometimes felt too childish, even for me when I was a kid back in 2005 (hong kong) and 2007 (WDW) when I visited those places. Disney Paris is in a way the most mature parks, not because of the thrill rides (despite that being the factor), but because of the language barriers. What's great about WDW and Disneyland California is that you can make puns and community messages in an entertaining manner. With DLP, you lose that magic, because while the english speaker will understand, over half of the visitors (who do not speak either French or English) will not get it. Not to mention some jokes or puns do nkt translate, aka "walk into the dead center ofthe room/, we are dying to meet you" those haunted mansion puns are not used in phantom manor because tge children are too young to fully understand english, and the adults don't knlw english (only the young adults and teens). So the language is very direct and clear. I still love DLP, but when it comes to language, there cannot be fun with it. DLP has 5 official languages spoken in the park (French, English, Spanish, Italian, German). And the announcers speaks through all 5 languages.

Out of the six current Disney "castle parks" scattered around the world, Disneyland Park in Paris is, in my opinion, the best in terms of scale and consistently immersive theming. While the original Disneyland is loaded with attractions and in most places quaint and charming, it also has several bottlenecks and was simply not designed to handle the levels of crowds that visit the park today. The Magic Kingdom also has a strong lineup of attractions, but it's a slightly over-corrected version of the hub-and-spoke design of its California sister in order to deal with masses. Tokyo Disneyland was essentially created by copying and pasting the "greatest hits" of the stateside parks, but it came to the detriment of its atmosphere. Hong Kong was created too small from the beginning, while Shanghai is unique yet somewhat overwhelming in its scope. Only Paris manages to find a happy medium in terms of layout, as it maintains the charm of the original Disneyland and scales it up sufficiently enough to handle crowding and prevent bottlenecks in most places. It's a tragedy that the park suffered under mismanagement and poor maintenance for so many years, but now that the resort is under complete Disney control things have already begun to change for the better. Thank you for filming this wonderful tour of the crown jewel of the Disney theme parks, and may Disneyland Paris continue to grow and age gracefully in the years ahead.

@gregbalth

Master Knife Well first of all DLP isn't as old as Disneyland or WDW. There was just less time to add stuff. On top of that they have an enormous 2 year refurbishment going on that ends in summer 2017 or something. They just don't have the resources atm to expand. And all of the latest expansions were for the Studio Park. (Toy Story Land, Ratatouille)

@gregbalth
@gregbalth 8 жыл бұрын
Jose De La Rosa That depends on when you go. January and Febuary are the least crowded months. The American parks are probably more crowded because its warmer there. Weather has a huge impact! That is also the reason why Disneyland Paris has no Splash Mountain. Its just too cold in winter so the water would turn into ice so they could only operate it from like march to november. So instead of having a ride that looks ugly (due to the lack of water ) and isn't operating during the winter months they rather don't have it in the first place.

In addition to what Gunther says : Climate adaption goes much further. It starts out with a quite huge 100% undercover entrance area. (Under the hotel). There are more spacious indoor galleries in all lands, providing real bad wheather emergency refuge). Indeed no attractions where you could become wet (and thus : ILL...). There is no jungle cruise because there is no climate for (sub)tropical lush vegetation. The small palm trees you see in a few areas are the only species in existence that can withstand slight frost. Doing landscaping that is convincing summer and winter, given dedicious species, is very challenging, because the vegetation itself will not be enough to screen off what is behind... when the leaves are fallen off... therefore, most shrub + tree screens areas are supported by hillrims that rise high above eye level ... etc etc etc.

Regarding the "Disney didn't own the park, the French government did" comments. That's not correct. It's the Chinese parks that are a partnership between the government and Disney. Tokyo Disneyland is completely owned by the Oriental Land Company who license all things Disney. Disneyland Paris however was build by Disney in of course cooperation with the French government in the regards of finance (basically tax stuff), project development in urban planning (land acquisition, the nearby shopping center and town) and infrastructure (roads and rail). It was also contractually agreed that after Disneyland park a second gate would open with Studio, and even a third park towards 2030, but that remains to be seen. The French government never owned Disneyland Paris, though. It was however a separate traded company until the buyout by Disney. The French just offered the best benefits for Disney. Other considered locations were the Netherlands near Amsterdam, Belgium, and where currently Port Adventura in Spain is located.

It's as if the park has remained the same since the release of Space Mountain haha. Now that Disney controls the park completely, it's time to put the bundle in the novelties and technologies! Regarding the "they can't have water rides like Splash Mountain because of the climate" comments. Other European parks would heavily disagree. Disneyland Paris is the odd one out regarding water rides. Sure, you can't operate them when it's freezing, but that still leaves you 9 months of the year at the minimum! Also, freezing temperatures that would could the ride to be clogged up by ice, like some suggest, would be a rare occurrence.

While perhaps the most beautiful of any Disney park, I think the challenge for Disneyland Paris is that it lacks ONE COMMON LANGUAGE, and to a lesser extend one common culture. It does a good job trying to be bi-lingual with signs in both French and English. But so much of the "magic" of a Disney park is not just what you see, it's what you hear. For example, their Haunted Mansion (called Phantom Manor) doesn't have any narration, lacking so much of the story. In the US, you can assume that the average guest speaks English (of course, there are exceptions). But visitors in Europe are from France, England, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, etc - each with their own language, culture and customs. Anyway, thanks for posting.

DavidinSLO you have a point here. i'm myself am dutch, and i find it really frustrating that the french language is in the center. especially in shows this is verry annoying, i would like to see that they center everything more around the englisch language.
@Oshawottr
@Oshawottr 7 жыл бұрын
Phantom Manor is much more rich in terms of lore when compared to the Haunted Mansion. It has its own story to tell, while the Haunted Mansions in America and in Japan, in my opinion, are more character and comedy based. I will admit that several story elements can go over guest's heads, if they're not a DLP nerd like me and have not researched the story.
@115DELDE
@115DELDE 6 жыл бұрын
Not having a common language or culture is not bad, if anything its great, it expands diversity in the park. The language isn't a problem to be honest. The three main languages in the park are French, English and Spanish. Cast members are fluent speakers of all those three. Shows mix french and english together (a character might speak in french the whole time and others will reapond amd talk in english during the whole time). In maps and restuarant menus are in 5-6 differemt languagues as well. You can perfectly speak your native language in DLP and have no issues at all.
@115DELDE
@115DELDE 5 жыл бұрын
I can support the "not having a common language", BUT what makes Disneyland Paris amazing IS the fact that we have different cultures blended perfectly. Disneyland and WDW are cool, but are obviously very pro-american and not internationally friendly. I have been to WDE in 2007 when I was a child, my favorite parks were Animal Kingdom and Epcot because they were not fpcused around "MURICA". Now, dont get me wrong, Magic kingdom and Hollywood were freaking insane and loved a lot of the attractions that do nlt exist in DLP like Tikki house, Jungle cruise (sooo coool), The Great movie ride, the indiana jones stunt show, and so much more. The magic of DLP is the cultural diversity. Cast members can speak up to 5 languages (English, French, German, and Spanish being the big four). The rides are mostly french because it is focused for them the most. Look at Tokyio Disneyland or Shanghai Disneyland, its Japanese and Chinese with small bits of english, just like DLP (only we have more languages which makes it cooler).

Phantom Manor uses visual storytelling to convey the story, and I mean it's a pretty great attraction and storyline.

That green sludgy water around the castle kind of ruins it. Disney, you're known to hold yourself to a higher standard!

Clearly you have never seen a small river or a moat before. They are 100% transparent nor are the blue. Disneyland California also has green/brown water.
