This is the full ExtraTERRORestrial Encounter experience from when it was in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World! It starts with the 2 pre-shows that include Chairman Clench from X-S Tech, S.I.R. (Simulated Intelligence Robotics) and Skippy, and then the attraction itself. Alien Encounter opened in 1995 (I recorded this footage in 1996) and was eventually closed in 2003 and changed into Stitch's Great Escape - a less scary attraction.

Video doesn't do this justice for those who never got to experience it lol. The seats and room basically had blasts of air to feel like flapping wings as it flew, water squirts like spit or sweat drops or whatever from the alien, something under the seat that would flick out at your ankles feeling similar to something like a snakes tongue, pulsating hot air on your neck that felt like breathing. It was crazy how good this attraction was and probably one of my most favorite ever.

I remember that ride as a kid. It was awesome. However, I remember the water coming down exactly when the maintenance work gets eaten so I’m guessing it wasn’t spit or sweat they were going for.

I went on this ride as a young little girl and walked out crying my eyes out from how scary this was. I was mortified! I remember being super still and trying not to make a sound inside while the alien was running around loose. I remember it breathing hot air behind my neck and spitting at me with the water machines in the front 😮 but in the darkness you think its real and right in front of you 😂

I remember going on this when I was like 4 or 5 years old. Screaming so hard that a cast member came and let me out of the seat in the middle of the ride and picked me up and took me outside. He helped me through my first ever panic attack and then when I calmed down I realized my dad was still inside and I had another one. He told me my dad was a hero to save the people and that he single handedly was rescuing everyone. I was so thrilled to know that my dad would be ok. I also remember there being a garbage can that moved around by itself and it talked to us. Does anyone else remember the talking trash cans because that was soooo cool and I don't know if I made it up or not haha

@@ddb592That's such a sweet story. Theme park workers in the 90's were just built different. I remember I was obsessed with Hercules: the Legendary Journeys when I was little and when I saw a Kevin Sorbo impersonator at Universal, I immediately ran up to hug his leg. He picked me up and talked to me just like he was Hercules. I was so lucky I got to meet my hero at 6 years old.

I loved this attraction! It was a 4D experience. I remembered the chairs had stereo speakers. During the course of the dialogue, the room would thumped with alien footsteps or the chair would shake when the flying alien landed on your chair. The chair would rattle when the alien tried to break into your chair. There was hot air blown on your neck for alien breath, little tassels or air jets blown on your head to simulate alien tongue flicking or tentacles touching your hair. These sensations were delivered to you while you were sitting in darkness. Then your imagination amplified everything that was happening. Not everyone would experience these sensations at the same time because part of feeling the fear came from hearing other people experiencing the sensations before you do. It was a very well psychologically designed and timed ride. Even the adults came out scared.

Don't you know it's no longer a parents job to parent their children. It the rest of the world's. The ride had warning signs posted at the entrance and throughout the queue line saying that it had lighting effects that could be dangerous to people with epilepsy and that it had thematic sequences of horror. Parents chose to ignore those warnings and then blame Disney when their children came off crying.

I went on this ride when i was in first grade (7 years old) by the time we got to the sign warning us "hey don't take in younger kids" we were already waiting in the line for over an hour so my dad put his foot down and said "we waited this long, we are not leaving this line". I spent that night curled up in a ball under every blanket possible because I was so terrified of that ride lmao.
@brandielittle186

@@caitosaurusrex7363 There were signs literally THROUGHOUT the queue line and one right at the front entrance along with the warning signs for health risks. So it's on your father for missing them all until the last one. I'm sorry you were scared but that's a parental issue NOT a park issue and people who enjoyed the ride shouldn't have lost it due to bad parenting. If you were in line for over an hour than there's literally no excuse for missing MULTIPLE warning signs.

Also, the guy who plays “Clench” (the guy who decides he wants to come here) was arrested for child porn and something like luring a young boy. So, if you’re Disney, and the main actor from your ride is a registered sex offender, you’re probably going to stop showing anything with him in it. They could’ve just kinda reshot the explanation scenes, but c’est la vie… 🤷🏽‍♂️

Great ride? Are you crazy? It’s extremely disturbing! Fake or not, burning alien animals in front of kids thinking this is real is just disturbing! @matthewheid1645
@matthewheid1645 5 жыл бұрын
@@Dolcevita_bakes this ride wasn't meant for kids, and there were warnings about how scary it was. Also...The Haunted Mansion's stretching room makes kids cry all the time. It's loud, dark, and has a corpse hanging from a noose, and an ax wielding bride who beheaded her husbands. Pirates has characters who drink, steal, murder, and burn down the city. You go to hell in Mr. Toad. Pinocchio has kids who turn into donkeys for drinking and smoking. Tower of Terror has five guests die in an elevator. You call any of that kid friendly? Disney has always had dark and cruel subject matter and has never been just for kids, and Alien Encounter wasn't teaching kids to be cruel. It was an experience set in a fictional universe. Is Constance teaching kids that it's okay to behead husbands? Are pirates teaching kids that it's okay to pillage and plunder?

I honestly don’t think this ride closed because it was “too scary” I think it closed because of Geoffrey Jones. Incase you didn’t know, in 2001/2002, Geoffrey Jones was arrested for taking nude photos of an underaged boy. Pedophilia and Sexual harassment are big no nos for Disney. So rather than reshooting the scenes with other actor, they changed the overall ride.

I know people don't like Eisner very much anymore but let's be real-- Disney's creativity flourished and hit its peak when he was in charge. I miss the Eisner era when rides were based on original creations rather than IP.

I was traumatized by this ride when I was a kid, haha. My mom had taken me to Disney the Christmas after my grandmother passed away in '94. I was 7 at the time. I remember feeling so helpless, being restrained in those seat harnesses and it feeling so real that the alien was actually loose in the room behind me. My mom has laughed about it hysterically throughout the years whenever we talk about this ride when it comes up in conversation at any family function. It definitely left a long-lasting impression on me that I won't forget for the rest of my life! So glad I found this video and could relive this as an adult. Just wish I could repay the favor to my children the same way! A kid's imagination is a powerful thing! XD

That was actually part of the ride! There were speakers in each seat with binaural audio for each guest. Some of the audio is meant to sound like it's someone else in the audience saying it. I vividly remember, but can't find in this video, there was a part where it sounded like the person next to you said something like, "Don't eat me, Mr. Alien! Eat the person next to me!" and then you would feel the alien's breath on the back of your neck, as if another guest had sold you out.

This attraction is the reason why I am so scared of the dark to this day! Went on this in '95 when I was 6 years old, parents laughed the entire time instead of saving me from all the screams and actually thinking I was about to be eaten alive. Now at 31, I still can't go anywhere extremely dark without thinking something is going to happen to me!

I worked at Disney for a year and had one shift in Tomorrowland. Since this ride is now defunct, the stage/seating served as a break room for my area... needless to say I had flashbacks to this thing. I did this attraction when I was five years old and was traumatized by it - especially when you'd feel the hot breath on the back of your neck. Walking into the break room, seeing this place lit up in only orange lighting with the seats and alien chamber still intact, sent chills up my spine. Man... I wish this attraction was still a thing!

@@Leandro-xk3co They tried replacing it with a Stitch themed attraction but it got horrible reviews (lots of people thought it was too babyish and cringe-y). As to why they still haven't done anything with it yet, I'm not sure. Probably too focused on new rides instead of tampering with the relics.

Experienced this as a 7 year old and it changed my life. Absolutely terrifying in the moment but my favorite experience that entire trip. It seemed so light hearted in the queue until you get into the room and they have giant restraints that drop down on you to hold you place. Then you start remembering all the warning signs at the beginning. At that moment you're wondering what kind of ride did I just sign up for and the anxiety sets it before anything even happens. The effects were amazing. I laughed, screamed, laughed, screamed, and then laughed again. I probably cried at some point. I was so sad when it was changed to Stitches Great Escape and then even more so when it forever closed.
