The largest aircraft in operation (until 2019) and still the longest and heaviest aircraft in the world brought medical equipment to Windhoek in Namibia. The An-225 has a wingspan of 88.4 meters and can carry a maximum of 250 tons.

Having worked a number of times at the dhl hanger at leipzig airport, i have seen both this, and its smaller sisters, the an124, taking off and landing. This video does it no justice, the 225 was enormous, and you can feel the floor rumble as it passes by you. Incredible engineering, and hopefully the second 225 will be built and in service soon

Sure is and here's the problem Russia has destroyed the Motor Sich plant since May 2022 which means either RR or GE must make the D236 engine for Antonov and Motor Sich. Otherwise AN-225 will use 6x GE9x engines or Trent XWBs due to the D236 engine being unavailable

This is truly a majestic airplane on take-off. It was very impressive with all six at full-power. Sadly this beauty was a victim of war in it's own hanger. I hear that a possible, exact replica is being developed. I would love to see how this next massive airplane will emulate the original AN-225. However, I don't know when they will intend to complete it, because the war between Russia and the Ukraine hasn't given in yet. I hope very soon though. I will pray for those people.
