My son passed away on fathers day this year. He was barely 3 months old. Diagnosed with a horrible heart defect. His mom and I moved heaven and earth just for him to survive... and he did for what little time it was. This song touches a part of my soul marred by grief that I can't describe, I hope those suffering loss like myself will feel the grace of God. I miss you Everett. Do not go far from me.

I am so sorry to hear about your son, no one should ever have to go through that. I know what you mean about the music, though - music is the thing that got me through a terrible loss (gods not so much) It really can touch your soul and carry you away if only for a while. I'm sure you must have heard this a thousand times, but take it from an Internet stranger - your beautiful baby Everett will alway be close, in your heart and mind, and every time you hear this music you'll feel it. All the best, mate x

2:59 to 4:58 is the most stimulating bit of music I have ever heard. I have heard it many times over my short 25 years of life and it ceases to make my eyes swell with tears and hairs raise across my entire body. Of all the great pieces of music, this is surely one of the greatest.

"Even those listeners who had studied the score for months were taken aback by the unexpected clamour of Mars. During Jupiter the charwomen working in the corridors put down their scrubbing-brushes and began to dance. In Saturn the isolated listeners in the dark, half-empty hall felt themselves growing older at every bar. But it was the end of Neptune that was unforgettable, with its hidden chorus of women's voices growing fainter and fainter in the distance, until the imagination knew no difference between sound and silence" Imogen Holst (the composers daughter) records her thoughts and observations of the 1918 premiere

This song is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. I come back to this song a lot and listen to it. I played orchestra in high school & we played this song my sophomore year. I hated every single part of high school because I never fit in anywhere. But orchestra was my escape. Every time I hear this song I start crying because I’m reminded about how music like this can make you forget about the rest of the world for a moment and just enjoy the melody. Nothing can ever replicate that feeling.

Now that the wind called my name And my star had faded now hardly a glimpse up in the empty space And the wise one-eyed great father in the sky stilled my flame For the ones who stood me near And you few who were me dear I ask of thee to have no doubts and no fears For when the great clouds fills the air And the thunder roars from o, so far away up in the sky Then for sure you will know that I have reached the joyous hall up high With my blood brothers at side All sons of father with one eye We were all born in the land of the blood on ice And now you all who might hear my song Brought to you by the northern wind have no fear Though the night may seem so everlasting and forever dark There will come a golden dawn At ends of nights for all yee on whom Upon the north star always shines The vast gates to hall up high Shall stand open wide and welcome you with all its within And Odin shall hail us bearers of a pounding hammerheart
