I demonstrate how I pass an HDMI signal from my NVR through my network’s switch to 3 TV’s in my home. This allows me to quickly view all the cameras displayed on my recorder’s screen. When I switch my TV’s source I can view all around my property and into my basement. There is always a TV on and it’s much quicker than logging into the NVR or my phone. I unbox the device, set it up, test it out and give my thoughts. The transmitter and receiver can be connected by a single network cable or through a router or switch to made the video signal available anywhere on your network. Check it out and see if it’s an option to make you camera viewing experience better.

If I'm not mistaken, this setup assumes you have ethernet cables running inside the walls throughout your house. Maybe that's the case in Canada, but in the US that's very rare.

So my main TV has the DVR along with main HDMI cable connected to it along with the connection to the Internet router which is right next to it. I want to display the live feed to my tv in my bedroom. Which is on the other side of the house. However from my understanding is that I would have to have a cable ran from the back of the router which is in the other room in order for me to have the live view on my bedrooms TV!?

I currently have a TV with a direct connection to the internet, not using wireless connection. I understand how to connect the sender unit the NVR but I only have 1 RJ45 jack at the TV and its used for the primary signal. It seems like I would need to run another RJ45 line behind the wall to give me another plug for the receiver. Is this true?
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY Жыл бұрын
Yes, that is one solution, or you could add a network switch to the single line you have for your TV to split it out for more devices. I have several switches around my house because running additional lines is expensive and I don't always have the ability to get behind the walls. I have one in my office, behind 2 TVs, in my studio and a huge 48 port switch in my network room. Here is a good option: amzn.to/3NTOGU2

No, this will not allow you to see one camera per a specific TV. The extender allows you to see your NVR screen at far distances from the NVR. When you select one camera on the NVR, that one camera will be displayed on all receivers.

I feel the same way. I use a wired connection whenever possible. This is how I have my TVs setup. Using the TV's Ethernet port, I am connected to my network's switch for all my TV content (Netflix, KZbin, News, etc). I also have my HDMI Extender's receiver plugged into the HDMI port on my TV. When I want to see my security cameras, I push the source button on the report and the TV switches to display that HDMI port. Behind my TV, I have multiple Ethernet ports, but I also have a small 8-port switch there to split out the Ethernet connection so I have many, for gaming and other devices.

Sounds interesting, but what about NVR and network over Wi-Fi, can I watch live or recorded video from the recorder on my smart TV, just like watching the same on my smartphone via the appropriate App? If it's an Android smart TV, why there isn't an App to watch live, captured or recorded security video from a remote controller? All the Apps there are on Smart TV are movie Apps, KZbin, Netflix, Foxtel, etc. Paying so much for a Smart TV and can't even get the same Apps you get on mobiles? Not so smart, is it?

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago with these extenders. I lost internet for about an hour. I am still not convinced that the extenders caused the issue, but I haven't used them in a while and the timing is almost too coincidental. I would start off by downloading Fing to PC or a mobile device and check out the IP addresses and see if there are any duplicates. Also remove everything from the network with the exception of the extenders and slowly start adding devices. Hopefully someone with more network experience can also chime in here.

@@HomeTechDIY thank for replying. My local seller suggested me to use an isolated network for that purpose only. And that to me defeats the purposes of blending in my existing network. I actually tried again yesterday. Making sure I have enable igmp snooping for my network switches and router. No luck, as soon as I switched on the sender unit, the entire wired network went haywire. This time round I noticed that the sender unit has all led lit up. Meanwhile receiver unit did not (indicating it’s not working as intended according to the user manual). Not sure what’s wrong, my tv shows no signal. It is as thou the receiver do not know how to receive the signal. Meanwhile sender just blast all datas into the network.

I have a question why can't you use the extra ports on the router instead of a network switch. Must it go the the network switch. Thanks just trying to learn something as I am installing a security system in the home. Thanks Mike

Yes, you can use the extra ports on your router instead of a switch. Use any ports on your network and it will work. Hope this helps.

I want to see my camera footage wirelessly, meaning I want to have a screen set up in a different house, what’s your suggestion how I should set it up? Pc on a stick and view it online? Or chromecast?
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY 5 жыл бұрын
Assuming you are running a PC to view the cameras, you easiest solution would be to use PC on a stick and install TeamViewer. As long as you have the bandwidth and capacity to transfer a lot of data it should be fine.

You would need a minimum of a TX and a RX. The system will not work with just a RX.

Hi I'm Ron. I'm needing to do the same kind of thing for a recording environment where musicians all need to see the same video feed so they can all see each other in realtime. It appears that the latency in your video is being introduced prior to your network. Do you know if it's possible to achieve less latency? Thank you for this video. Nicely done.
@HomeTechDIY

Hey Ron. Thanks for the question. I'm not sure how to achieve less latency here in this situation. I'm not sure if a lower quality image would be faster.

I doubt it would be possible with any consumer brand NVR. Your system would need to be highly flexible. The only option I can think of would be to use multiple NVRs.

Hi Thanks for the video. My transmitter and receiver works if I plug them directly from one to the other, but when I involve a switch, I cannot get it to work. I need to use this system to get the signal from the NVR upstairs to the TV downstairs which has a Cat5 socket going to the switch. Please can you advise what I'm doing wrong? I have tested all of the cables and sockets with other devices and they all work. Thank you!
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY 3 жыл бұрын
You will need to connect a router to your setup. Your modem may have built-in router. You can connect your switch to the modem/router that should allow the transmitter and receiver to communicate with each other over your network.

@@HomeTechDIY Thank you for your reply. I have connected the switch to the router and then all of the cables around the house go into that, ie. the Cat5 socket behind the TV. I know that socket works because it connects to on-line TV and also to a laptop. Any ideas please?
@HomeTechDIY
@HomeTechDIY 3 жыл бұрын
That is odd. Are the yellow lights on the transmitter and on the receiver flashing while the green lights are steady on? Does the TV downstairs support these devices? In my video one of my TV's didn't support the receiver and gave me a unsupported message. The TV should show something; either show no signal or unsupported when connected to the receiver on the correct input/source.

@@HomeTechDIY Thank you for coming back. They are showing a pink/blue light and working correctly through a computer monitor if I connect the two together. As soon as I put them through a router or switch then no signal gets picked up by using the same monitor. It's like the cabling cannot find the connection through the Cat5 cables. It's weird!

Agreed. If your place isn't wired and if you have a strong signal at each end, using a WiFi version would be a lot easier. I still haven't been able to find a wireless setup which allows multiple receivers at a comparable price to these however.

Makes no sense ...more likely the existing network cable would be already use for something... so we would have to run network cables...why not just run a hdmi cable straight instead of going through so much protocol... these devices should have wireless, then they would make sense
