I will see David, probably for the last time, this year, in Rome. And now I just found this video here, with this concert, which I have also on DVD, but actually I had totally forget it. But it is probably one of the best demonstrations of the genius of this man. The way he attacks "shine on" armed only with an acoustic guitar and a pedal, is sublime. I hope I will have the opportunity to thank him, just to shout "thanks Dave, for making my life less hard, by bringing, with your music (together with Roger, Rick and Nick) so many moments of beauty, joy and genius. Thank you all, and hope you continue for many years to provide us with those moments".

Back in the mid 1990's, I was working in Camden Market. A guy approached me with the offer to buy his guitar. Why me? He didn't know a thing about me. I am a guitarist, but only acoustic. This guitar he was offering me was a beat up Stratocaster. I had a look at it; he gave me his price, and I parted with my money. The rest, as they say, is history. In the coming months, I Iearned to play "Shine on you crazy diamond", "Comfortably numb" and countless other Floyd classics. Yes, and I sat up night after night practicing song after song. My buddies where knocked out! And the most loved song, was "Wish You Were Here", played on the acoustic guitar. Thank you, David, for the inspiration and the for the beautiful music.
