4K with SDR is just a super blu-ray. HDR also fixes SDR issues that stem from the limited dynamic range. The gold standard is 12-bit Dolby Vision or HDR10+ on a 100 GB disc using a native 4K digital interpositive. HDR10 doesn't bother me much...except for the possible future DV upgrade. 😳

Yeah it’s very strange to have a selection of 4K discs without any HDR grading. And although the films look slightly better on the native 4K disc I feel like they would look but better with the HDR. I incorrectly said that Dr Caligari was on 4K scan on the old Blu-Ray disc from Eureka but it was just a HD scan so nevertheless I’m happy with the UHD upgrade but yeah, still strange that it doesn’t have HDR. Kino on the other hand I think are just doing it to be cheap but to still retain some films licenses

it looks better....because no movie can be HDR unless it was filmed in HDR which means nothing other than like 2020+ movies are all the others are "filtered" aka changed to look like HDR and that's why they look worse most of the time and why you can easily make them "hdr like" by simply boosting contrast and darkening everything it's pointless and 9 out of 10 times ruins the original movie a bright scene because dark a blue sky becomes pure white how is ruining the original movie "good" ? Dolby Vision is another scam all it is a preset, I hate HDR because most movies I have in fullHD and 4k HDR and the fullHD version is superior almost every time...except logically for movies that were shot in our digital era
