Carolina is the center of this story. She broke the engaged couple apart, successfully got a rich boyfriend - and did nothing from then on. Sophia gave her a good summary of what she should have been doing to become a respected upper class lady. But she didn't do any of that. She brought in her greedy family and clinged to Patrick, being just an idle rich woman - a mistake she payed dearly. She obviously whithered in this relationship, lost her personality, drive for own developement and consequently also lost own future in this marriage. Also did some stupid things and got ridiculed, which didn't help either. Patrick resented her instead of helping her to integrate, it seems they were just infatuated teenagers who didn't have an idea what they are facing. Caroline is also a person who lost the most in this situation. But she wasn't justified to accuse Sophia for her fate, bashing it all on her background. as all, she went through and where she ended, was her own doing, her own decidions and choices. Hopefully she learned at least that everything has a price to be payed for and demands an effort to be kept.

I don’t hate Carolina that much. She is pitiful and didn’t bully Sophia behind Patrick’s back like what other white lotus “heroine” do to “villainess” fmc. The FMC, Sophia, on the other hand did bully Carolina like what those “villainess” do. Carolina’s fault is that she never adjusted herself and her family for Patrick that made them a laughingstock, and didn’t listen to FMC’s last advice on her. She was blinded by love. For me, it was Patrick who deserves to be hated here. He knows he has a fiancee but decided to cheat on her. I do personally believe Carolina didn’t planned to steal Patrick from Sophia. I feel like Patrick attracted to Carolina "innocence" at first, she is different than the people he normally mingle with. A breath of fresh air. Patrick should have had a tutor or teacher to help Carolina to learn the etiquette and ways of their circle It's been 7 years! And yet nope. Nothing. The moment he feels like she's becoming a burden, annoying, and her family brought shame, he literally abandoned her, hating her. He left her alone to fend for herself in the circle that she is not familiar with. Before marrying, they should have talk, make sure to give boundaries to the relatives. Talk to their family. Carolina have potential, and as Sophia said, she could have at least work in the company, gain experiences or open a shop/business (If Patrick still "love" her, he might have help and inject capital)

If I were her I wouldn't want to deal with my family and would send them money as a filial duty with them having a strong family culture in China. I think if she weren't such a pushover with her family and let them use her husbands family over and over that she wouldn't have divorced. The Ironic thing is that she got married to him because of her pushover mentality and then got divorced for the same reason, she never grew as a character.

Female lead is good I love the story but her thinking that two should come from same background is wrong instead if you two love eachother then two should work together on eachother and the relationship dispite of their status shit and improve each other for the relationship and eachother ❤

The one who should do a lot of improving was Carolina. She entered the social circle completly different than her, but stayed pasive, just thinking that being there is enough. FL gave her very good summary of what she should have done to be accepted and recognized as lady of rich family, but she didn't do any of that. The ending was expected, she didn't have career, gave up on herself and just clinged there like parasite the same as all her family did. It's funny that her husband resented her instead of helping her to integrate, telling her what and how to do it. Obviously they were not a true love but only had a rush of teenage infatuation which didn't grow into a true connection...

@sarahbrowne3178Ай бұрын
This seems to be a very dividing story for once - the FL didn't getting as much support as normal and it looks like people are wondering why. I had a long think about why I didn’t connect with her and she comes across as arrogant to me. This was my interpretation of her actions, bearing in mind that we don’t hear Carolina’s point of view, so it’s hard to say how malicious her intentions were. - Carolina was bullied in school due to her low-class background. Sofia admits she is in a position of influence at school and is like by her peers but doesn’t intervene. - Sofia sees Carolina and Patrick together and vents her anger at tennis by humiliating Carolina. Sure, she’s entitled to feel aggrieved, but it was ultimately Patrick who betrayed her. Carolina showed a weakness in character by being involved with a guy who was in a relationship, but Patrick was the one in the relationship with Sofia. I felt like she really should have vented on Patrick if she was going to go after anyone, but it seemed to me that she targeted Carolina because she was vulnerable and she couldn’t really do anything to Patrick. - Sofia says things like "I'm the most beautiful girl in school". Why not just say "I'm very beautiful"? - Sofia later meets up with Carolina and gives her some (arguably) well-intended advice. I disagree with some of the advice (particularly about studying fashion) but ultimately the advice feels victim-blamey. She’s not necessarily wrong, but I don’t think it was the main issue in their relationship. Again Sofia doesn’t really put any blame on Patrick or his family. Had Patrick’s family supported their DIL and either didn’t care about her social slip-ups, or supported her and explained patiently where she went wrong, this marriage would have gone very differently. At worse, Carolina’s main mistake in her marriage was that she was ignorant and didn’t educate herself without the support of her in-laws or husband. Patrick’s family were malicious. - Again the worst issues seem to be with Carolina’s family breaking the law and generally being greedy. It’s unclear if Carolina asked Patrick to assist them or if he did it out of obligation but it does seem like if Patrick drew some hard lines and didn’t help, Carolina wouldn’t have been able to force him. As someone else already said, it seemed like Patrick was infatuated with Carolina because she was a breath of fresh air and unpretentious. Once the novelty wore off, he puts her down in public and Sofia admits that nobody tells Carolina what to do - including her own husband. The main villain seems to be Patrick for me, but he doesn’t really seem to be held accountable like Carolina. Ultimate this story doesn’t hit with me because it just smacks of women putting other women down and not holding the men to the same standard. The main criticisms of Carolina, once she was married, are based on her wealth and upbringing and the actions of her family and lack of support from her in-laws.

This was horrible - Sofia is an awful person. She thinks so much of herself - so pretty and educated, like this is the only way to have value in society. Carolina was right, Sofia's confidence and looks (knowledge about fashion etc.) clearly came from her upbringing. And starting up another business in her name only wither her in-laws' money? Makes 0 sense. Most families concentrate on one business to make it successful. Businesses take a lot of time and energy to build up and most fail early on. The only reason to start up one by herself would be if she planned for her marriage to fail and she was never putting in effort to stay. Maybe she would have been better investing in further education to get a high up position in her husband's company? Worst case, she has experience to work in a different company if she divorces. Best case, she helps her husband's company. All Sofia's friends were bullies and for no other reason than their wealth and privileged upbringing. She doesn't have a live-in English tutor - the shame! Sofia should have said something about it before Patrick ever intervened.

How Sofia is an awful person!? Does it make Carolina better!? Anyone can be confident and fashion sensation without being rich. People who like to look good, they stay updated about fashion and it has nothing to do with the background and she worked hard to start and continue the business. With her in-laws money, how does it make sense?? And if a woman is concentrated on her career. Does it mean that she has no intentions to stay married!? What a damn logic and Carolina was engaged with already married person and stayed in his circle for years, why didn't she learn anything!? Why blaming Sofia for her own failure!? Did Sofia steal someone's man!? No and did you hurt someone intentionally no so only awful is Patrick and Carolina but let's ignore because Carolina was poor so she doesn't need to bound herself with morals and Patrick is a man who couldn't control himself and stay loyal. So just blame Sofia.

@@syrajatt6141 Gosh you are really triggered. I am sorry if I offended you by saying bulling is wrong, but it is. They were bullying Carolina well before she started chasing the guy. Sofia joined in after the cheating, true, but she didn't stop any of it before hand either and they were all her friends. The cheating also doesn't actually justify bullying. Especially if you aren't bullying someone for a character flaw but their economic background. I don't really understand your English or what you are saying. Maybe I phrased it badly and you didn't understand? I never mentioned Sofia starting a business or her work ethic. I am sure she's a hard worker. She's still a bully. Sofia told Carolina that she should have used her in-law's money to start her own business and be self-sufficient. I disagreed because that's not normally what you do when you get married. You normally combine everything and work towards a goal as a family because you are more efficient working together. I agree she could have bettered herself by getting better educated and contributing to the family business, but I disagree that she should have used her in-law's to start her own company in preparation for being self-sufficient - that's not normally how marriage works. Sofia's criticisms of Carolina are also about fashion and social etiquette, Carolina was looked down upon for cleaning her own mess and not leaving it to the maid. I don't feel like these are just reasons to look down on someone personally but that's your call. Sofia also criticised Carolina for not learning about fashion. I personally don't place a high social value or judge people on how people dress. If her husband stopped loving her because she doesn't keep to the latest clothing trends, I think that says something more about the husband. I made 0 comments about Carolina as a person. She is a cheater so clearly has a character flaw there, but at least she wasn't a bully or look down on people based on wealth and how they dress. I didn't touch on the relationship, Sofia is entitled to feel wronged about that because she was. She is still a bully and looks down on people due to wealth and social class though. Bad people can still be cheated on.
