He Actually Threatened To Kill Me

I was a plumber for 35 years and I went out to a house one time and installed new pump pressure tank the whole works for this guy. When I got done I was gonna give him the bill and he started yelling at me to get off his property that I was trespassing. I said no sir you called us here I'm not trespassing and you need to pay this bill and he pulled out of a razor knife and started to walk and toward me And said I will gut you if you don't get off my property.. I carry a large knife, And I pulled it out and flipped out the 5" blade and said do you really want to play this game because I don't take to people threatening me. After he calmed down he said he would write me a check I said no sir, it's going to be cash now after you threatened me. So I suggest you either call my shop with a credit card number or come up with the cash right now. So he took a little convincing but he called my office and gave the credit card number and they ran it through So I gave him his receipt and left. And we put in the file that we will never return to his property. I have many stories like this, and have seen crazy things in people's houses, sometimes 😳 too much seen

Their are so many people that get a service and want to try to bully their way to get I for free. It disgusts me. Many times these companies are willing to work with their customers if they're up front about low income issues, etc. There's no reason to steal by withholding payment. I turned down a dirt road once, lost, trying to find the way out, and immediately saw a sign that said... 'YOU ARE BEING WATCHED"...It had a BIG IMPACT on my mind so I hurried up getting out of there !!!...Signs can have a very powerful psychological impact on a person !!!

I have an older van in my driveway, that was 15' from front door. This man parked in the neighbors driveway, and crossed into my yard from the side of the property. He crawled under the van. Then he went around the house to the back door. He called out, I told him to go to the front door. He ask if he could take a part off the van. I ask what kind of car he has. It was not a van. I asked what part he wanted, he said, the catalytic converter. I said it didn't have one, he said it did. I asked how he know, he said he crawled under and checked. When ask were his car was, he pointed to the neighbors driveway. They were not home. After he left I called the police, as I have had two home invasions. They said, he was probably casing the place. When he went to the back of the house, that's when he started seeing all the cameras. Hence, calling out, to me. I took pictures of him and his car. I am 76. And don't people on my property either. Stay vigilant.

Danger is everywhere! I retired recently after 50 years as a nurse the last 35 as psychiatric nurse. I am 73 and decided I needed my life to be safer. So many hurt as nurses and courts state they were mentally and therefore not responsible. Such ridiculous excuses. Put them in criminal hospitals so they don’t hurt others.

Wow, if you were truly threatened, life in danger, you can protect yourself. BUT depends on the police and your court system. Blue states, my massachusetts, you'd be in prison if you hurt the guy. Nobody threatens the Amazon driver, not if you want your packages! Glad you don't face that 40 hrs week anymore. You face trespassers with stuff sitting out on your property. Yeah I was an RN working mentally insane pts. To try and restore their competence, and had to go out on a disability due to one to many assaults. Yes it was getting to dangerous for me. I’ve had black eyes, bruises cuts. And really not much you could do about because they weren’t responsible due to mental defect.

Be careful of the funny signs. It's been said lawyers can twist it around against you. The time to reveal your weapon is the moment you feel truly threatened. Always be educated on local laws and be ready to go to jail to defend yourself. It happens.

Dutch is COMPLETELY in the right and u would think the police would help him out by answering his ligitament questions instead of hemming and hawling....maybe Dutch can ask at Town Hall what the correct and legal course of action would be!! Yes, both the beware of dog and the beware of owner can make you more liable if your dog bit someone or you shoot someone. Those signs would be used to sway a jury that you knew you had dogs that bite or that you are a gunslinger ready to shoot a person. No trespassing and the video surveillance signs are the best.

My insurance agent told me Not to put Beware of dog signs on my property because it indicates that the property owner thinks there's a possibility that the dog could bite which makes the property owner legally liable/responsible if the dog Does bite. No trespass signs simply says that the property owner doesn't want any uninvited guests.

My husband was a splicer for the phone company and later an outside plant engineer. He was constantly having to be on other people's property/right-of-way due to his job. At that time his biggest concern was loose dogs, but it was also before the world went crazy. Sadly, the laws seem to favor the criminals these days instead of the victims.

I used to map out utilities right through a ton of private property in the cities, in the suburbs and in the country. I've had way too many close calls with people to count. The best story I got is being trapped in a fenced-in barnyard with a bull. I had to stand behind the overhead guy pole and remain perfectly still because it was looking for me. That was the first time in my young life that I reached out to God and said Lord I'm in trouble and I need your help. About a minute later which is a lifetime, trust me, a dog runs from under the barbed wire fence, runs up to the bull and nips his heels and gets the bull to chase him away. That's when I did my best Jesse Owens impersonation in my life. Praise Jesus.

Another ideal - instead of walking all the way to the shelter for feeding, built another bigger, more enclosure shelter or mini barn for your horses (they are cute) and place their feeders there close to the gate, so you would not have to walk that distance. Oh gosh I know exactly what you mean. I had occasion many, many times. It seems that the more often the matter involves money/benefits of some kind, the more opportunities one has to learn to develop this skill. My Mom worked for Social Security for quite a few years. She retired about 15 years ago. She was a claims representative and conducted in person interviews with applicants to determine eligibility for benefits. On more than one occasion she was threatened. There were a number of incidents around the country where people assaulted and shot/killed staff in Social Security Offices. They now have armed security in all Social Security offices. A lot if people don't realize there was time when people were 'normal' and didn't use violence just because they didn't like something. There was a time when police officers weren't stationed in schools, and the list goes on.

I thought y'all put a gate up before. Lester had a trespasser who fired a gun on his LHL property. My ex husband worked for a tree trimming Co that was contracted through our power company. They were threatened many times by landowners. Our power company would threaten to cut off their electric if they couldn't get in to trim. They were good about backing the guys up in situations like that.

Just a FYI Can you build a small lien-to over the fence for the horses. 5 ft on horses side, 3 ft on your side. Hook what they eat out of under the lien-to. You can even put a garbage can of their feed on your side…as long as they can’t get into it.

Sean add onto front of wood shed with a roof only about 8 ft and place your mill saw under there and splitter so you can still work when it rains. And easier to throw the firewood.

I would recommend you put the horses hay trough in their shelter. That way it wouldn’t get wet and they would go into shelter and stay dry. You could even place their grain feeders on the wall. You will find they would be in it more and put your container with lid inside front right. Now that winter is here would make things so much better for the horses and you will find they will like it so much better. I am definitely not trying to criticize just know that is how we did it and I think you would too. So happy all the animals and all of you are ok. I've had situations similar to that when I worked at the hospital, usually in the Emergency Room after some sort of traumatic event. In those situations I just extracted myself and just called a supervisor or security. In public no way would I put up with that, whether I defend myself or call the police. I don't care for random people showing up at my place either.

I have dealt many times of this type of situation's. Where my safety and life was in danger. Number one, you establish your private space and don't let him get to your face and body. Two, speak with confidence and a calmly manner. Deescalate the situation. I think that you did a good job by communication. Over the years I learned other techniques for de-escalating potentially violently situation.

As a retired nurse I've seen some sick things, I've also had some very large bikers come in hurt, and high wanting to fight anyone that touched them. It's a hard thing to deal with as a Christian. It comes down to in this state that if they put their hands on you first you have the right to defend yourself. But saying that you still put yourself at risk to lose your job, and be sewed. It's a decision you have to make at the time, if you feel your life is on the line. Like I said I'm retired and I retired early because it wasn't worth it and not know if I was coming home to my babies or not. You have to understand I worked the ER. At the highest point of the 80iest . HIV and gang fighting had just began. So I quit.

Something I finally learned is that try to be professional around people. If you go down to their level of emotions then things can go south quickly. It took a few years where I had to realize that.

I was going to say get gate with solar activators with cameras. Really they don’t cost that much and some do a double fence like 100 yards from house then at road entrance. The green farm gates. Have back up batteries. It stopped problem for us. It makes them pause very quickly.

I know what you went through about the power line easements. I worked as a land surveyor for many years. Not many people know that having a beware of dogs is setting yourself up for major lawsuits. If your dog bites someone legally they can say you knew you're harboring a dangerous animal. I used to work in a law office where that happened, the "victim" ended up winning a multi million dollar lawsuit.

I put up an auto gate opener made by lift master that is solar powered. I installed it almost 5 years ago. I've had now problems with the gate other than when it rains hard the gate will not close because the eye is covered by rain and so I wipe the eye clean and then it will close. The gate is one of the best investment iv bought. And easy to install. It install right on your farm gate

Many landowners put a shelter outside of their remote controlled gate for UPS/FedEx type of deliveries. It means extra work for you that must be done before thieves get to the boxes to transport packages from there to your house, but certainly is safer for your family.

Many years ago I worked in the insurance claims department of a national loan company. The field personnel would tell us stories of the crazy people that had to deal with when they went to collect overdue payments. Back when I hunted a lot, I was looking for a wooded plot of land that a coworker had given me written permission to hunt. His map skills were pretty sketchy and I rode around quite a bit looking for certain landmarks in his map. I pulled onto a lightly gravelled dirt road I thought might be it. About 40 yards into the road, there was a white truck hood leaned against a tree with the hand painted following. "ARE YOU LOST??? Last chance trespasser, turn around here and GET OUT!" There was even a convenient turn around made just before the sign. It had several large, (looked like 12 ga slug) holes in the hood/sign and I turned around and got out pronto. In the end, my friend's land was just the next property down the road. He told me I was lucky, that an old Vietnam Vet lived there and had even shot at some country inspectors that had walked back in there.

Dutch, as you said you handle that situation correctly. My Grandpa taught me, like you are teaching your daughters, all about guns & to respect them. He also taught me that if you pull a gun then you best be prepared to use it. God Bless y'all keep videos coming love y'all.

Put Purple spray paint on all of your edge of property trees. Here in California it's universal for privet property.

If someone is on your property and threatens you, it's self defense. If you touch someone threatening you off your property, they can file assault charges. Probably best to back away a little to make some space. Glad there were witnesses for you guys that time! Once had a crazy lady threaten me out of the blue at the mechanic shop while getting my car repaired! Texas Deb ❤️

Dutch, take a step or two back. Show the agitator u r respecting him & his space. If he advances on u still then hands out, tell him to PLEASE stop and back off. If they r still aggressive then u protect yourself . Meet them level for level. No weapons, u use hands and submission holds. If a weapon is shown and u r unarmed then u scatter . God speed.

Add a sign below that says "Welcome Amazon ❤". Sorry for the trouble with trespassers. I had trouble with high schoolers walking down my alley and trespassing up my stairs in the yard and jumping off my retaining wall. I finally had to rig up a gate and put a padlock on it and put a no trespassing sign on the gate. At least now I have a legal right to run them off. Prayers for health and safety!🙏❤🙏

My former neighbors had horses and had the same problem. They acquired a couple 50gal blue barrels, cut the sides open and tied them up against the fence so they couldn't be moved. Needed one for each horse, otherwise the dominant horse would hog it all. Might work for yours.

I'm a retired firefighter/EMT, It's not unusual to have people threaten/attack us. Some times you just don't know what your walking into. And getting a domestic call is always a head on a swivel kind of call. I'm rather good at talking my way out of things, and I'll always be thankful to the Deputy Sharif's that go with us.

Here in Florida is the "Stand your ground law", not that you can't get in trouble if you were defending yourself from imminent danger, half of the criminals have more rights than the people they harm. But anyways, if it were me in your situation at that time, I would've stepped back to create space first, held a defensive ready, and asked him to step back. It usually always escalates if both shout, stay calm but ready. Hopefully guns aren't involved, as you stated, utility workers are rarely allowed to carry anything more that mace? Love ya'll ❤️

Hey Dutch, check out a company called MISEN .They sell 1/2" steel plates for the bottom of your oven to make heat spread more evenly. Perfect for your pizza oven ! It's some kind of special steel that can handle high Temps.

That's a tough call Dutch. I'd probably handle it way different because if someone crowds my personal space like that and threatens me, I think I'd knowing I have a short fuse for something like that I'd Take them down with one blow.. After 8 years in the Army I haven't forgot anything!! But the situation you were in you handled it very well by trying to defuse this guys violent verbal attack.. I commend your action on that one Dutch.

Do you plan to do anything in the future to alleviate all the mud when it rains? Maybe fill in the low places and plant grass?
