I ordered a few picks from Patrick back in 2016 and they changed the way I played from that point onward. The amount of power I was able to generate just by using those picks was astonishing and carried over when I resumed using conventional picks. The man is a living legend. Thanks for this documentary!

Couldn’t agree more that Patrick is the most innovative and talented guitar builder in Europe and the world really. Patrick built me the Kelly inspired guitar pictured in this video and it is my most prized possession and has spoiled me for other guitars. He was a pleasure to deal with and it was fun to watch his progress during the build on social media. I’m glad to see his work featured so prominently here in this format. Truly great to see him get the credit he deserves.

I have multiple hand problems, so huge respect just for the idea and thought process behind the picks, unfortunately, I'm a bass player and picks are forbidden. I get real Carl Thompson vibes from Patrick. A man so in love with his craft that it just oozes from every pore. If they haven't meet, I truly hope they do before Carl passes on. He's in his 80's now... Please, luthier gods, make it happen.

I wouldn't say that it's forbidden and maybe it's because I don't like the idea that there isn't a law that says that you are committing a crime So just do what you feel is right for you and play how you want man. I really really try to avoid being critical of guitar builders. And this is a mostly great looking guitar. But it looks like his starting prices are over 3k usd. The string ferrules on the back of the guitar are not hoe they should be on a 3k+ guitar. And it's not a terribly hard thing to get right

@@bwa_8 from what I know a lot of multiscaled instruments have an angle with the 7th or 8 string being the most distanced to accommodate the longer scale. Something along those lines. If you look at 8 strings by Ibanez the 8th and 7th strings are the only ones not aligned with the other 6.
@bwa_8
@bwa_8 5 ай бұрын
@@davids2629 I see what you mean, but that's not what we have here. The alignment is quite random and also the spacing. It happens when you drill manually from one side, if you're not precise, the holes at the other side of the body can be misaligned. Which is ok on a home project, but inacceptable for the price asked for these guitars. Just pause on the image timestamped, and tell me if it screams perfectionism.

Absolutely near what the title suggests, each guitar Patrick has built in the past year or so has had some sort of innovation in it that has never (or rarely) been done before. On this guitar in particular it's the inlay design along with the CNC-carved honeycomb Richlite top.

@@sixstringtv1 I was referring to the fact that luthiery is a wide ass field and I think talking about an electric only luthier and saying he's the greatest is pretty uninformed, I've seen a lot of quite frankly huninged guitars over the last few years and a lot of luthiers would in my mind take this cake, but it's one man's opinion, you can't possibly see everything that has been made in a lifetime, Luthiers do incredible stuff and this is what the message should be Imo

Soft wood? Richlite is a synthetic compound that although perhaps softer than the bastard hard woods (Gabon ebony, ironwood, purpleheart) isn't far off maple and is very dense, and the mahogany type woods (sipo & sapele) are hard enough for guitar construction, with some individual pieces being harder than maple.
