Lesson 8: The Jews and their Messiah
Text: Romans 9 & 10
Theme: The Jewish rejection of Christ, the Son of God.
Key passages showing salvation in all ages is through faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God: Daniel 3:25; Psalm 6-9, 12; Isa 7:14; 9:6; Prov 30:4; Acts 4:12; 8:37; 9:20; Matt 16:16; 22:42; John 20:31
God chose Israel (Rom 10) and Israel rejected God (Rom 11). I thought once God elected man cannot reject
Ro 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
This “calling” this “election” is for a “purpose” (Rom 9:17)
1. It had nothing to do w/ his salvation
2. God’s calling/purpose can be accomplished w/o salvation

II. Israel’s trying to find righteousness by works
