The reason Darwin died is because since gumball won’t exist they never got the bond that they shared in the origins so he never got his lungs and legs, and since he doesn’t have them anymore he couldn’t breathe.

The Darwin thing was bc he only has legs and lungs bc of him and Gumball’s anime friendship magic, so since Nicole and Richard were babies, that means they never met each other, which means they never got married and had Gumball, so the power of friendship thing couldn’t/didn’t happen so he became a “normal” fish again

I'll always love that moment where Rob closes the entrance to the void and the credits strat playing. We know from Season 2's finale that the credits can be used to reset everything to the status quo (and thus, Rob doesn't need the remote to unpause everything, as the universe will naturally return it to normal). So the fact that Gumball doesn't get reset when that happens means that the Void is outside of that power, and Gumball has no safety net. If he messes up in the Void, then it's game over for him, and the world will move on without him. It's such a great way to raise the stakes while simultaneously acknowledging a known Deus Ex Machina.

The funny thing about that Pinocchio thought experiment is that if he says "my nose will grow" his nose won't grow because he's telling a non-conditional truth. "My nose will grow" is a true statement because he will inevitably tell a lie, and if he doesn't he'll become a real boy and his nose will inevitable grow. If he says "my will grow now" the nose will grow later, when the statement becomes false.

The original pitch for Gumball was a school for rejected cartoon characters which is why all the art styles are different. So the existence of them being in a TV world has kinda been there since conception, cool reuse

If Pinocchio says "My nose is going to grow now" his nose is not going to grow. Because the truth is he's not lying, he's just wrong. Pinocchio's nose only grows when he tells a lie, not when he says something that is wrong. If you ask Pinocchio something he thinks he knows the answer to but it is wrong, him giving you the wrong answer is not lying because he thinks it is the truth, he just doesn't know it is wrong. Being wrong doesn't make his nose grow. I think the confusion comes in because if we had a case where Pinocchio doesn't believe his nose is going to grow and he says "my nose is going to grow" His nose will grow because he is lying, and even if it has grown that doesn't change the fact that he is lying. If Pinocchio says what he really believes, nothing will happen. If Pinocchio says something he doesn't believe in, his nose will grow.

The reason he saves Rob is solely because Rob is only a villian because of him anyway. Its the equivalent of you ruining a persons life, being an asshole to them consistently, and when you finally do talk to him you slap em with the villian label. Then you proceed to kill the guy whose life you made worse when you put them there. Its a super dick move to leave Rob dead when the entire situarion is your own fault.

rob is such a well-developed character if you think about it. the 13-year-old guy (yes, he is fking 13!!!) was no one and was forgotten by gumball, so he ended up in the void, then realised that he is the side-character in the show about gumball and his ignorance may get every character in this show in trouble. he had no friends, no relatives, no interests, because he was a background without a story. the thing is, everyone who gumball does not care about ends up in the void, but rob decided to fight with this system. if you want to be remembered by gumball, you should follow the role the show and gumball gave to you, so rob literally tried to survive there by being nemesis of gumball so he won't forget him. but then rob realised that the world itself would not function without gumball, because he is a main character. so now, while we are not watching him, he would try to do smth else :)

SPOILER!!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . and knowing that he is the last character we see on screen in the last episode, where he is desperately trying to save everyone, but failing and falling into the void gives me chills every time. he, literally the boy, was the only one who knew the true about the world of gumball and was handling it by himself, it's terrifying. he is basically a kid trapped without finding the way out :(

Yeah, I find it funny when people discover he's actually 12-13 years old and are like "YOOO WHAT??" because he did MANY things that are just above average, he's super smart when making plans and it's not like he's always been, we see his develpment as a villian, like, just compare Rob trying to kill Gumball and Darwin in The Nemesis and him trying to kill Banana Joe in The Ex, it's clear how much he has improved with the traps, he went from failing at least 563 times (because he says he put that amount of traps and all failed) to basically making the perfect traps and the only thing that stopped them from being affective was Gumball's intervention. Now THAT'S some character development that a lot of people seem to miss when analizing Rob.

@@Yurki9472 SPOILER ALERT . . . . . . . . . . . . . that's the saddest thing for me. since he is just a background character, he had no childhood, but he still needed to grow up very early, and i bet he had this existential crisis shit going on, cuz who wouldn't do? and not only he improved while making traps, but he also did a lot of job to find out the true reason of their existense in the world of gumball. first he became the nemesis and tried to follow that role to survive, he realised they all live in the fictional reality of cartoon, he tried to erase gumball, because only his actions make evere background character suffer, then realised that there's no point of it, tried to move on and learn more about a universe they live in by stalking banana joe's family, bc... yeah, he did not want to hurt joe, he just wanted to learn more about barbara since she is able to predict future. my favourite part is how he tried to made his own show in the world by bringing all background characters and trying to make them main ones, but failed and realised, that show itself won't be functional without gumball. he tried for so long to save himself and everyone, cuz there was no happy ending for them after show would be cancelled, so rob tried the last thing that was supposed to bring everyone in real life. but how traumatic it was to him just to realise that he is not able to change the future... the last minute of gumball was absolutely terrifying and horrific. i think it's the darkest ending of kids show i've ever seen. his posture, look in the camera, horror in the eye and then everything just stops.

Yeah, he's basically a very traumatized kid, this doesn't excuse his actions of course (*cough cough* twice kidnapping), but damn he really is underestimated by the characters in the show and also some parts of the fandom, or well except tumblr I guess, people there LOVE his character, but I've seen lots of reaction channels and they all seem to not really pay attention to him and forget about his existance even after The Disaster, the only exception i've seen was one spanish streamer but that was because this guy was really invested into the lore, and well, Rob is a very important part of the lore of the series, you just can't tell someone the lore without him in it. I do agree that he basically had to grow up way earlier than he should have, but unfortunately that's just something that happen to some people, usually abandoned kids, they have to learn to adapt to the real world, they can't get a childhood, they can't have a place to call home, they have to worry their safety, most of them die of hunger, it's pretty sad and horrible to think that Rob might just had to deal with all of these, and not to mention that he had no family (probably they ended up in the void just as him but they never got back), no friends, since no one remembers him and he doesn't seem to remember anything from before getting sucked into the void, this guy's life is miserable and I really hope we get a flashback or an epsiode about Rob surviving, even if it's for example a little flashback or even a conversation about it. I also believe that he picked to be Joe's nemesis to learn more about Barbara's powers, but c'mon you can't watch the episode and tell me he wasn't at least a little exited when makign those traps, towards the end of the episode he literally explains in very detail how his trap to kill Banana Joe works, it it WOULD have worked if it wasn't for Gumball. If he only wanted to learn more about Barbara, then why bother to try to destroy his annoying son? it's not like anyone would notice if he wasn't being someone's nemesis (wich is sad but true). By the way, I think in The Spin Offs Rob didn't really tried to make a show, but rather did lots of pilots for a potencial show, wich are all the little scenes we see, and I think one is even a live show since the only one where he intervents is with William and Tobias, so I believe that show specifiaclly was some kind of live show or reality show, because I would see no reason on why he wouldn't just edit the tape and cut his part interventing out of the video, but I don't think it matters that much. Dude You know how bad he knew it was going to be when he didn't screamed for help when he was hanging at the floor, all he said was "oh no, it started", and only screamed in fear (and probably in an involuntary reaction too) when he was falling already. I listened to his voice a thousand times while rewatching that scene to try to understand his feelings at the moment and also look frame-by-frame to get some cool screenshots and see how slowly his expression goes from anger to pure fear for his life. First time I saw the finale I felt so shocked, and to this day, the music at the end still creeps me out.
