Always In My Heart was released as the fourth single from Tevin Campbell's 1993 album: I'm Ready. It was written and produced by Babyface and Daryl Simmons. The song reached #6 on the R&B chart and #20 on the Hot 100. The music video was directed by Marcus Nispel. Tevin Campbell Info 📰: Tevin Campbell was born on November 12, 1976 in Waxahachie, Texas. He is a singer, actor and songwriter. He is an altino countertenor who possesses an almost four-octave vocal range. He performed Gospel music at Jacob's Chapelin Baptist church from an early age, first in the choir then as a soloist. He has earned 5 Grammy Award nominations, and he has certified sales of 5 million records in the United States. At the age of 12, a family friend had him singing to legendary Jazz singer and Texas native Bobbi Humphrey who arranged for him to perform at a videotaped showcase in Manhattan. When the video taped performance tape found its way into the hands of manager Benny Medina, he flew to Texas and signed Tevin Campbell shortly thereafter. The family then relocated to Encino, Los Angeles where Tevin Campbell attended a private school in Sherman Oaks neighborhood. In 1989, Tevin Campbell collaborated with Quincy Jones performing lead vocals for the song: ""Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)", on Quincy Jones' album: Back On The Block, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart in June 1990. Tevin Campbell's first solo hit was the song: "Round And Round", which charted at number 3 on the R&B chart in November 1990 and 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 1991. "Round And Round" was produced by Prince and was featured in Prince's 1990 film: Graffiti Bridge. Tevin Campbell won the award for best new singing artist at the 12th Youth In Film Awards for his song: "Round And Round". The song: "Round And Round", also earned Tevin Campbell a Grammy Award nomination at the 33rd Grammy Awards for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance but lost to Luther Vandross' song: "Here And Now". After his appearance in the 1990 film: Graffiti Bridge, Tevin Campbell made a guest appearance the following year on the NBC sitcom: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, playing the fictional teen idol "Little T", a celebrity crush and date of Ashley Bank's in the first-season episode, "Just Infatuation" (S1/E24). In 1991, Tevin Campbell released his Platinum-selling debut album: T.E.V.I.N. His next album: I'm Ready, released in October 1993, yielded the top ten Pop and number 1 R&B hit song: "Can We Talk" and the song: "I'm Ready", a top ten Pop hit and top five R&B hit. The album's third single: "Always In My Heart", charted top twenty Pop and number 3 on the R&B chart. He also scored a Top 30 R&B hit with a fourth single: "Don't Say Goodbye Girl". The album went on to reach number 18 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album was certified double Platinum selling 2 million copies in the United States. The album: I'm Ready, was nominated for 3 Grammy Awards: Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for the song: "Can We Talk" at the 36th Grammy Awards. In terms of sales it was a disappointment compared to his first two albums: T.E.V.I.N. and I'm Ready, because it only reached Gold status. The album's first single: "Back To The World", reached number 47 on the Billboard 200 chart and 14 on the R&B charts becoming a moderate hit. However, the other two singles did not even reach the Hot 100: "I Got It Bad" and "Could You Learn To Love", only managed to reach the R&B charts with very low peak positions, number 41 and number 73 respectively. Tevin Campbell's fourth album: Tevin Campbell, was released in 1999, it found him venturing into the Neo-Soul genre. The album has collaborations with Wyclef Jean, Faith Evans, David Foster and SWV lead singer Coko. The project was rushed and as a result, it charted below the R&B Top 30, with only one single charting, a Top 30 song called: "Another Way" (number 25 R&B). After an incident with law enforcement in 1999, Tevin Campbell remained out of sight for a few years. Through 2003 to 2004, tevin Campbell had still not made a public appearance and kept a low profile. However, in 2005, Tevin Campbell made an appearance on Broadway for the musical Hairspray as the character: Seaweed J Stubbs. He later reprised his role of Seaweed in the Broadway play in the Melbourne and Sydney productions in Australia. He worked with the production up until 2011. In May 2008, Tevin Campbell released an internet album entitled: Never Before Heard, through Rambo House Media and the album was released to iTunes and Amazon as a means of test marketing some material originally recorded in 2002. After six months of availability, Tevin Campbell decided to no longer allow the unpublished material to be downloaded online, and the music can no longer be heard or purchased on these sites. As of 2019, it is unknown if Tevin Campbell will ever re-release said unpublished material. In 2009, Tevin Campbell made an appearance at the BET Awards 2009 as he paid tribute to The O'Jays along with Trey Songz, Tyrese and Johnny Gill. In May 2010, Tevin Campbell performed on The Mo'Nique Show. He said that many people wanted him to work again on music and he was thinking about a comeback. In November 2010, he was featured on the remake of a song by Quincy Jones called: "The Secret Garden". The remake featured Usher, Robin Thicke, Tyrese Gibson, LL Cool J and Barry White. TV One's show "Life After" featured Tevin Campbell's life and career, as well as updates on his comeback. Tevin Campbell continued to perform in the 2010s and rumors of a new album made the rounds but nothing ever materialized except for a few song collaborations with artists and a single that he released in 2016 called: Safer On the Ground. On August 17, 2022 Tevin Campbell came out as gay in an interview with the People Every Day podcast. There have been rumors that Quincy Jones, Benny Medina sexually assaulted him as a minor, which Tevin Campbell denied. In 2020, he threatened to file a lawsuit against Jaguar Wright for claims that he had become a sex worker. In April 2023, Tevin Campbell was featured on TV One's series: Uncensored.
