I do think that most people don't realize the level of craftsmanship and discipline of any serious classical pianist. You can be a "pro" in jazz or pop piano with a level that will be considered amateurish at best by classical standards. Only a very few jazz pianists can compete with classical standards (e.g. Petrucciani)
