There are a few things integrated with the mod, including announcing when a player first leaves the nether. If he was to leave the nether once, and hit the stronghold... either an insanely less than 0.1%... or it would've been even faster to catch him! But, he didn't particularly hide the other blatant cheating either!

Rust tournaments require players go to emote only chat during a base raid to prevent chat from leaking the location of the enemy TC. Could emote only upon nether enter be an option?

people could still look at specific other runner's streams since everyone has to stream in order to broadcast their vid to the organizers i suppose you could instead set every individual runner to stream on delay. might be hard to get people to sync up but im sure they could set up a tool which did this automatically if it was really needed

was there a rule about this before the event started? there was some point where the main stream was spectating a runner who nodded in-game to something feinberg said (presumably listening to the main stream). even if it was a coincidence, the commentators thought the runner was listening in, and didn't say anything about that being illegal even though they could get information that other runners wouldn't have. it's probably too charitable to say "kwist didn't know getting information from chat was cheating," but *maybe* that was actually the case since they were so blatent about it? the other explanation would be that they've been doing this for every event and have just never been caught. which would be really gross.

Great video, this is obviously cheating, but how would you prevent this? Like it is easy to when they do it in chat, but if I was a top runner without mic and webcam and my roommate would sit beside me watching main stream, there would be no way to know if I did that (if I made it believable)

This is an issue in ranked all the time when both players stream publicly. Kwist could have had Feinberg's stream open on a second monitor as well, and it would have been harder to detect. Or he could have been top 8 anyway and auto-qualified.

Realistically the only way someone can cheat & get extra info is if they are behind by quite alot, and that point they probably wont catch up anyway. There's no way to prevent this if the player is getting discord dm's on 2nd monitor or whatever anyway. I honestly don't think he should be banned unless it's a repeated offence, he may not be 100% familiar with the rules due to language barrier or whatever.

a pretty strict measure would be to enforce pointing a camera at everyone's desk. no alt tab, no phones. another option is setting stream delay to lie 5-10 minutes. of course, analysing each run could already be sufficient evidence to tell if someone's cheating. like if the runner hypothetically went for bottom treasure aat the start/before piglins finished trading, that would be pretty sus.

You could arguably say this is cheating, but how would they prevent this. What if a runner made up some random undetectable gibberish language with their friends so they can communicate like that in chat according to what they see? How would the organizers notice that. And how would they know if they had another device beside you to stream snipe, or if someone irl was standing beside you to watch it. Or even if there was someone in chat purposely trying to make someone cheat and get exposed. If the runner accidentally sees that information, then decides to use it, would that be cheating? I think what is considered cheating should be highlighted more thoroughly. Honestly i think ranked playoffs should just be prerecorded for that reason but idk
