It turns out that the throttle linkage broke, so they only had idle speed...apparently not enough to control where they were going

Thanks Sea Wench! The draft was about 24in, but we could power through about 18in depending on the type of bottom we were in. I'm guessing she was hiding empties...Not saying the captain was drinking before they broke down since it took me probably an hour and a half to get to them from when we first got notified, and who knows how long they had been there before we even got the call, but you never know...🤔

Thanks Brian! If I remember correctly, the throttle linkage broke on the engine side of the throttle cable. On these Mercury 150s, it's made of plastic
