Omg …2 f bombs, Eric ! Great lesson, I’m struggling making this change the past year…it’s taking me a good year to get that flat wrist and seeing the left side of the course.

Haha whoops! Thats OK....normal to take some time....stick with it. It's a GREAT step in the right direction!

Always great advice. Always consistently delivered. Always focused on the important parts of the swing. Always worth watching more than once. "And in 2024 we are only going to work on those three things." Thanks Eric😮

I have been struggling with shanks and hosel contact with my irons. I feel like I am overthinking every swing. This video did a great job explaining the swing and key points to check. This, coupled with making sure I am pivoting the left hip back and not closing the distance to the ball is starting to give me the confidence I need back out on the course.

I really enjoyed this episode, it mirrors exactly what my coach is telling me. I like the phased introduction of the changes, which is always helpful when making big alterations to your swing. Well explained and demonstrated. Good job.

Hey Eric - long time no see. I noticed that you spent a bit of time talking about the follow through, and that the hands should “roll over”. I’m guessing this is mostly because his misses were right. I have the opposite problem, and as I recall one of your coaches told me to not roll over, and just finish with the club vertical if necessary. I understand that there are “different strokes for different folks”, but it does raise a question in my mind: is there any reason to roll the hands in the follow through (other than correcting an open face at impact)? I think the no roll is classic Zac Johnson, right?
@CogornoGolf11 күн бұрын
Hey chuck! You got it spot on.....it's to close the face. If your club face already too closed when you would want LESS ITs really these 3 main variables that close the club face....arm rotation is just one of those options: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHS6aoqVoayEqq8&pp=ygUdZXJpYyBjb2dvcm5vIHNxdWFyZSBjbHViIGZhY2U%3D

Eric, at some point would you work on his hand path on his back swing? Seems to me he gets too deep behind him with his hands making it more difficult to get the club in front on down swing. Hands too deep and low below shoulder. At 21:00 the range bucket seems to address this issue somewhat. The before and after at exactly 26:30 he seems to be a little less deep with the after. Wouldn't that help with less inside path on down swing?
@CogornoGolf6 ай бұрын
For sure! Yes I would----we talked about it a bit but only can do so many things at once ya know....but def a part of it I would explore
@rossmasters32816 ай бұрын
Eric, I've recently been trying to improve my hand path. One key feel I have always had was the butt of the club facing the target line at the top of the backswing, but on the way down should the hands move out to make room to release the club/move hands back in? Maybe this is a wierd question, but have always had problem with release/forearm rotation on the way down. Thanks!
@CogornoGolf6 ай бұрын
Hey Ross! Yes hand path should go SLIGHTLY out as they go DOWN. That is happening as the body is rotating open.... They go down and out until about the time they reach just past hip high (to about the trail thigh) then they head back up and left

@Eric, i hope you see this and can help me understand the way in which the two wrists work in sequence; or rather, what's causing my issue. I have the ability to bend my right wrist and get it in the "waiter position" but find that I still will have a slightly cupped left wrist. So, in essence, they aren't working together. Is that a grip issue? Please help and thanks in advance.
@CogornoGolf7 ай бұрын
Hey! Yeah could certainly be a Grip issue.....the more the lead hand grip is turned stronger the more it will be cupped (in extension) to have the face square at top So if your face is square at top you may have a strong lead hand grip and weaker or normal right hand. If the face is shut at top bth hands may be stronger Its OK to have cup at top so long as face is still square from stronger grip I'd need to see your swing to say FOR SURE....send vids in to www.cogornogolf.com if you dont get it sorted so we can see, diagnose and fix for ya

@@CogornoGolf you're response is more appreciated than you'll ever know. Your dedication to helping amateurs is very evident. I'll start bringing a tripod to my range sessions so I can get a good video to send in to you at your website. Your explanation is very clear, and you hit the nail on the head, I tend to take a strong lead hand grip with a weaker right hand.
@frank53637 ай бұрын
I have been working on this exact same thing in my lessons. Not cupping the left wrist at the top of the swing sounds SO easy but it’s really not
@CogornoGolf7 ай бұрын
Go shorter and slower and gradually build up swing length and speed, use video feedback, and exaggerate x100. You'll get it!

I think getting him the feeling of turning the logo on his hand down as he gets to impact will help him, especially starting with a half swing instead of full swing.

Wait, wait, wait....players that over-close the club face are the best? I'm currently suffering that with driver. Made a grip and swing change a few months ago and dramatically improved the iron play. But have been losing the ability to use driver as time goes by. Using the powder foot spray, I am punishing the toe of the driver face and I can tell I have so much shaft lean at impact. I am hitting duck hooks that only make it 20 yards in the air but 75 yards left once the ball grips the ground. LOL. Or if I do get a straight shot it might fly 50 yards before dropping to the ground and accelerating another 150 yards. Ugh, friggin golf man. LOL.
@CogornoGolf7 ай бұрын
Lol Of course you can OVER DO anything thats good. Run a mile or two probably good for you.....run 500 miles probably not so good :) Statistically....based on measurements....YES....better players tend to close the club face MORE and SOONER than worse players. Of course there are always outliers/anomalies in any statistical analysis!

Looks like his head is also way to forward at impact. That will push ball right as well. His weight transfer may be too late.
@voltest26922 ай бұрын
His head position, at address, is not aligned with his spine and his head is actually well ahead of the ball. It seems this minor correction would help him, no?
