Danny, I’ve watched you hit dozens of drives on your channel when demonstrating technique but never seen you hit the ball with such freedom and aggression - this swing is more like a tour pro than (with all due respect !), a teaching pro……well done !!

@fred It is amazing to me to see ANY golfer over 70 years old being active. I just started golfing at an old age after retiring and when I did 18 holes it took me 4 days to recover (and I go to 24 Hour Fitness three times a week). My whole family and many friends have been playing golf for over 30 years and I always thought it looked too easy but I can tell you it's one of the funnest and hardest sport that I've ever tried and what I like about it is that there are so many golf courses to play at.🏌️‍♀️

When a massively successful golf instructor puts a vid out of himself learning something new it’s just so honest. No pedestal or lofted ego, it’s very refreshing, To be fair most instructors online don’t seem egotistical but just want to help us hackers get better. To me that’s the spirit of the whole game right there. 😉👍

Danny. Tried this on the course today for the first time. Apart from a couple of loose ones (to be expected) easily added 20 yards. Golfing mates were asking what I’m doing different. Literally longest I have ever hit the ball, I was getting places I get with roll in summer. Just need to make it more consistent now. Thank you!

Thanks for the lesson! Senior golfer here (74). I will need to get more flexibility to get that turn. I have lost distance over the years but I have developed very good dispersion. I will need to work and find my hardest swing that I can control. In my younger years I had a much more violent swing. After playing more than 35 years of golf I ended up getting lower back surgery. I have taught myself a swing that gets the ball out there carrying 210 yds and roll out another 20 yards. I am always in search of gaining more distance. I will use these tips and work on getting more flexibility to gain more distance.

Great video! Glad you mentioned senior golfers that don’t have the flexibility they once had. Being a senior golfer myself, may I recommend adding 5-10 minutes of stretching to what you already do, before hitting balls when applying this video to your swing. Truth be known, I’ve found stretching at least 20 minutes is more productive than hitting extra range balls. I feel stretching is an under appreciated must do before playing. Full body stretches!

The towel drill can be a big help just for learning tempo for transition into the downswing even if you're not working on speed. Your hands get high and you have to pause to let the towel fall into place, then swing through. I'm going to give the drill a try because I do speed up my transition and I end up out of sequence.

@@DanielMaude it’s been in the mid 20’s here for a few days now but I was able to hit a few drives at the range today. My dispersal is still varied but I somehow have better control. What was normally a hard slice to the right is now more of a cut. With more practice this should not only keep my ball in play but I should be hitting more of my second shots from the fairway! Thanks for the advice, I’m going to try the wrapped and taped towel drill.

@@DanielMaude It actually worked (sort of). I didn't get to the range but I actually tried it during my round. As expected, the first few swings were pretty bad (one weak pull left and one a bit thin), but my third one was awesome!. It was solid and I hit it about 15 yards further than usual (which isn't that long anyway as a 68 yo 5'6" male, but I was excited). Of course, I was so excited that I did it on my wedge shot and thinned it over the green 😆 but I was able to get up and down for a par! I definitely will work on it. Thanks Danny!

Danny Maude - Simply the best. Always finds words and swing feelings to make his lessons understandable and "doable' for amateur golfers. My game has improved through his teachings. Tell your golfing friends about Danny's site. They will thank you for it.

Loved this video Danny. I love how you are trying to learn this while teaching us how to hit bombs. When trying this I found that going with the weight shift and full turn did somehow help me hit it straighter. And longer. On my simulator anyway. I'll see in a few weeks if I can take this to the course. Hitting fairways is a challenge for me. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

your happiness when you flew the range is infectious! I am going to mess around with this and, the other video about bouncing your ball over a basket with the irons from another video of yours, next time I go to the driving range.

That was inspiring especially as I have lost so much distance recently. It highlighted all the things I was doing and importantly how to sort it. Many thanks

That was an awesome session. I"m a guy who's focused probably too much on keeping my left arm rigidly straight, but it seems hard to really increase the clubhead speed. Watching your transformation was inspiring! I would comment more but I'm off to find the perfect towel...

I have always bent my left arm a bit. Trying to keep it ridged straight creates tension. When the arms and club come down, the club will straighten your arm back out. Lots of force coming down with speed!

I am a senior (75) and a consistent driver but not long (200yds typically). I spent the morning golfing and tried to use the weight shift drill out there today. I made two drives on 17 and 18 220 yds. I will add the towel drill and lift my foot next. These are good tips and I recommend you seniors out there try it for yourself to get a few yards back. Thanks a lot!!
