I used to ride a unicycle when I was young, and it was fun and unique . I came across an euc video and wanted to see if I could ride one, so I bought a v14 . I was riding it in the first 15 minutes. I've been on paved trails as well as off-road. At 73, trying something new is invigorating. New sensation, excitement, different perspectives. There is no need to stick to one mode of transportation or recreation. While this is less expensive than sailing. I enjoy your videos. Thank you

What came to my mind as you were talking about problems with the elevator and walking with an EUC is that you're only thinking about super heavy monstrosities that you're normally riding. As someone who has to use stairs daily I'm super happy with my Inmotion v8 (13.5kg). My new v8s is close second, but I'm not a fan of added weight (16kg). At most I drive for 7km in any one direction, so battery simply isn't a problem and the handle it comes with makes it a joy to walk with. It is also very small and easy to put anywhere when I get somewhere I'm staying for a while. Also, since I'm not a speed demon, I'm happy with 25kmh rides on the higher end. I'm very conservative and couscous not to hit any pedestrians that happen to run in front of me. This speed choice also comes with added benefit that I only ever use wrist guards as my only defense, since I'm normally riding as fast as I could run, so the chance of injury is much lower for multiple reasons. It makes going on a ride a breeze with minimal preparation. I hope that helped. Thank you for sharing your experience :)

EUCs free me from many situations, for example, being stuck in traffic :D In social settings, people often approach me and strike up conversations, creating interactions not just about EUCs, something that happens far less often under normal circumstances. I often use the time I save thanks to EUC to go running, exercise, or engage in other activities, all made possible by that extra time, saved thanks to the wheel

I ride both kinds of unicycles - analog and electric. My favorite electric - Master Pro V3. My favorite analog: Nimbus Oracle 36er. If you learn to ride both, and do it regularly, you get all the benefits. How I get more socialization with my EUC? I don't wear a full face helmet. Yes, I know, a full face is much more safe - but if I wear a open face, and when people see my face, engagement jumps 200%. People (including drivers) see there is an actual face attached to an actual person. When I go out on my EUC, I have to find the right "balance" of what kind of helmet to wear. Do EUCs limit me? NO - but - do some kind of cardio - like bicycling / unicycling. In the end, I believe the EUC is a vehicle of a bright, positive future; and as long as people keep seeing me existing, over and over again, year after year, on the sidewalks, on the bike paths, at Starbucks, at a busy intersection, in the rain, at the grocery store, at the bank, at Costco, way in the woods on the Discovery Trail, along the waterfront, and on the city street - AND do it all, without falling in front of everyone, then people will believe me, and maybe, perhaps maybe, they with try EUC for themselves. This is my purpose when I go out and ride.

A full face helmet protects you from yourself. Not wearing a helmet, or exposing your face, protects you from others. That's because drivers dehumanize cyclists who wear helmets, and are more willing to commit aggression around them (according to a controversial Australian study, you can Google it). Not wearing a helmet actually causes drivers to be more cautious. That said, I still wear a full face helmet with a dashcam attached.

EUC is both limiting and freeing just like a doorway that limits you to a space that opens and guides you from one area to another. I discovered some of the same feelings and thoughts that you experienced. EUC led me to my Job where I went from being sedentary to walking 11 miles/day 4 days per week- getting in much better physical shape than just riding EUC - rediscovering the joy of walking. Peace and Love to you Wrong Way

I 100% understand the feeling, my girlfriend and i have a Tandem bicycle and we enjoy doing long trip days and the feeling you get moving with your own energy is just incomparable, because sometimes when i'm doing long rides on my EUC i really miss the exercise, and the food taste so much better when you work hard

EUC is at same time limiting and freeing. It's limiting because of fear of fire hazard, random cutout and legal issues (it's illegal to ride here), but at the same time it's freeing, because it's very convenient to use it as last-mile transportation when combining with train/car, because of it's form-factor, it's easy to push around the stores, has lower maintenance than bicycle (no chain to lubricate, easier to clean, storage is also easier). With that being said - I use both bicycle and EUC - every form of transporation has it's own advantages and disadvantages. I don't have issues with socializing with EUC - because most of the time I use it as form of transporation - I transport myself to my friends and we have a coffee or lunch together. I have also a ride friends - EUC is just addition to social life, not a obstacle. Sometimes I also go to visit my sister, she lives in a small apartment where bicycle is a bit challenge to store, but it's breeze for EUC.

Lol, I was more homebound when I drove a car because I hated having to park it and pay for parking. However, since riding the EUC, I've explored more of my city than ever before because the EUC makes me want to go outside. I carry a 40L bag with me so I can pack my gear in there whenever I'm expected to walk. Leaving my Master Pro somewhere generally isn't a problem because I'm confident nobody is going to steal it due to its size and weight. In fact, I think bicycles are more prone to theft than EUCs because it is easier to fence. The only things I miss are my skirts and dresses. I enjoy wearing them in summer, but they've now been replaced by Kevlar jeans. Haha. I still wear them when going out, but only if someone gives me a ride. But that's not a biggie. :) The biggest lesson I've learned is that the EUC is a very polarizing vehicle. Some love it while others hate it. Drivers, in particular, will cut me off at high speed and show me the middle finger even when I'm riding at the speed limit and abiding by the road code. I never thought I need a dashcam but now that I've got a GoPro, I've captured so many bad drivers that road raged me. I generally forgive drivers who make honest mistakes (like when they fail to spot me), but some deserve a police report.

Maintenance is not an issue at all if you chose the right EUC. I have Inmotion V12 HT. I have it 2,5 years and 8000km on the clock. There is absolutelly no maintenance to do. Once per year I tightened the screws and replace pedal screws. That's it. Even the tire can handle 16 000km. Other EUC I had was the V8F. This wheel is so easy to work on, no problem at all. And the most important thing is if you ride in bad weather you have just small portion of you small wheel dirty. Nothing to compare how dirty is bike, how much work it takes to clean it, to clean the chain, all that tiny wheels, the brakes has be maintained, puncture is much more likely to happen... Do not buy fancy newest suspension wheels and you are more than fine. Also if you leave bike outside someone will steal it sooner or later. EUC is just the best by far. The old school ones, not the half super big and heavy motorcycles :-).

I think if you gave yourself 4 months of riding, you will realize the issues with biking. Being warm all the time isn’t the best as once you’re naked and still feeling hot and sweaty isn’t the best Need to lock your bike but then they steal all the parts of the bike that aren’t locked. Bike culture has the same peer pressure like EUC’ng, buy the latest and greatest EUC, clothing, accessories and such. And just like EUCs your rides get longer and crazier and your bike will breaks all the time. I road a lot and spent a shit ton of money. Also got back and hip flexor issues (100+ km rides weekly plus commuting)

Yes, I love riding my EUC and I want to get an upgrade, but I know that it is not the exercise that I know my body needs. Just like driving a car around gets you places faster (that is great) its not doing anything for your cardio. The best thing to do is to have fun on an EUC, but also schedule some time for exercise and socializing with other non-EUC owning friends.

Old guy here (73 years old), and casual EUC rider. I didn't have any issues learning to ride, so not much of a challenge for me. Turning took the longest to do well, coordinating how much to lean and how much to tilt EUC depending on speed and turning radius. EUC is just one of my hobbies. I got a V8F back in August 2021, and then 18XL in April 2024. I'm only riding about 50 km per month now, partly due to construction near the main bike path I use. I may get back to riding 80 km | month. I mostly ride around 30 kph. My wife and I go out dancing 2 or 3 times a month. My other hobbies: motorcycle, radio control gliders. Exercise: free weights and cardio (jogging | walking). Primary transportation is car.

Interesting that you made this video because it is something I have considered subconsciously and try to keep in check, I think it's as important to maintain some kind of balance especially considering exercise and social activity, I am 56 and now have to do a bit of yoga every day to keep supple, but I also play paddle for example and try to walk occasionally just to stretch those muscles as well, but also because otherwise I find that I whiz through life a bit too quickly, even just walking through town I might stop and talk to someone or even sit down and have a coffee whereas I am less likely to do that if I am speeding on my wheel

Adam, thank you for this very articulate, intelligent, and thoughtful video-essay. You asked for viewer opinions. IMO everything you described pertains to growing in a new direction(s), and is perfectly normal, healthy, and good. I think that most of us when young develop a passionate and very focussed interest in some particular area, and become expert in that area, and then as time goes by we start to feel a need to grow in additional ways. Having a variety of interests and activities is healthy. It is the spice of life. If I may, I will compare to military ranks: Military jobs for ranks populated by younger members tend to require particular specialized skills and some of the job names even include the word "specialist". Near the top are the Generals. The name of the rank, "General", acknowledges that the holder of the rank must have very broad and extensive knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. They are quite literally generalists. You mentioned exercise. My background is hiking and very-long-distance self-supported bicycle touring. That provided lots of moderate-intensity exercise and basic fitness. Two years ago, being a bit bored, I bought an electric scooter (What sacrilege! But that was before I discovered EUCs.) and I use it for big-city urban explorations in warm weather. It's the perfect tool for that, and it's a blast. But soon after I started scootering around, I started gaining weight - zooming around on the scooter provided zero exercise. Also, it was just too easy; no particular skill or agility is required. After resuming my daily walks and bicycling my weight started returning to normal. Then I bought an EUC and started to learn about agility and reaction times. Riding my EUC is a blast but once again it provides zero exercise. You also mentioned socializing. Where I live, there are no other EUC riders, so that makes it a solitary sport. It's useless for making friends, but it provides astounding agility training and makes me feel alert and alive, so I still do it. When walking in the woods or out in the countryside, I can stop whenever I want and closely examine some plant or watch some animal living its life. Vehicular travel is less amenable to that because of the need to focus on navigation and control of the vehicle. You will develop many more interests, skills, and abilities as time passes. Wherever your interests take you, I hope you will continue to share your growth experiences with us.

The Mten4 may not be perfect, but it is an underappreciated EUC. It’s my preferred choice for trips under 15 miles when I’m not in a hurry. I don’t have to worry about locking it outside because it’s light and compact, fitting easily into a backpack. I can also place it in a locker when I go to the gym. If the weather is nice, I would prefer to ride a bike instead of going to the gym. I am considering getting a Brompton folding bike because it is lightweight and doesn’t take up much space like a traditional bike. Thanks for sharing your experiences✌️🏾

I drive a hybrid automatic car for the least exhausting transportation between my little town and capitol for working. It is good to use for shopping, stransport someone else have longer trips into another country. To reset my brain,to feel speed and power I jump onto my motorcycle, everytime I get back home I feel the good vibration in my nerves. If I want exploring new areas far from the car roads, have a deep breath and check the sorroundings I get my EUC. The limit is myself. When I rode my bike I was getting upset to be fatigue, sweety and exhausted. I didn't enjoyed where I was this is why I perefer EUC and motorbike.

There are too many hills where I live. I would have to be very fit to bike around. Too far away to walk anywhere + walking around is really slow and boring in a rural town. Eucs are just special. There's nothing that compares to trading your legs for a wheel. I have explored way way more on an euc than on a bike or walking. There are tons of places I would have never seen, never been, without an euc. A little scared about the dangers and maintenance, but the positives greatly outweigh the negatives.

THANK YOU!!! Very cool video and HUGE questions no one has asked yet! Excellent! I’ve been an EUC rider for the last 4 years and I’ve become just that - an EUC rider. My brain works that EUC-way, my social interactions are adjusted to this almost a status… As for limiting or freeing - I think it is like I live in another universe where a pedestrian (well, almost a pedestrian) can travel with insane speeds and the commoners never stop praising you for being so brave and cool… But it is a very lonely universe, it is a different world of how I perceive my city, my weather, my space, my travel. I’ve got a lot of thoughts about this - I am tempted to make this comment even longer. I hope you’ll make more videos on the topic - I really want to understand what being an EUC rider has done to me - is it a cult/religion? A sickness? A transition to another form of existence? And has it been really good for me or I’ve lost more than I gained?… Hmm… Wow, man - thank you for the mental challenge!

I believe it goes without saying that EUCs are lightyears ahead of bikes in the get-around aspect. As far as limiting factors, it does not present any that bicycles dont also have. Try locking a bike and a EUC outside see what’s more prone to being robbed, try taking a bike inside or in the elevator see what’s more practical to move around and likely to fit inside, try coupling with train see what’s a better experience, try taking upstairs etc etc etc… I honestly see nearly no situations in which EUC is more limiting than a bike other than buildings which will dumbly forbid electric vehicles inside altogether, especially if we’re talking about light EUCs (

I think the reason he's having his shift right now is because he doesn't have the normal day routine many of us have. Getting to work, working for 8-10h per day, going home. An EUC is unbeatable unless you ride motorcycle and have traffic free paths for it. Like obviously, when you're whole life is making videos and sitting at home at a desktop, you enjoy the extra workout. I have more then enough workout on my work, and I know exactly what a bicycle life is like from my childhood. No Thanks, even though I also have an (also illegal) 38kmh E-Bike

I once met a nice guy. He was on bike. He helped me find out my way to a garage for some personal reason. Doing so, he followed me all the way, my eux was exhausted, didn't have much battery left, and drove at normal speed and all, even tho he was on his bike. Hence he managed to exhaust the battery on my 16X, 100 kilometer range, was going for a race with his friends afterwords, in the 70 kilometers scale, all that after a 30 big breakfast to fullfill his muscle batteries. I may have met a superman, but it made realize there could be better things then an EUC, except in a city like paris if you own a good bike, it could easily be stolen and more, and you'll need an utterly expensive flat to store it. Nonetheless i am very happy with my EUC, i only realized there is other fun things, i could do.

When it comes to long distance, EUCs have been more freeing compared to a bicycle. No more coming home as a sweaty mess and barely able to walk. However, after about 9 months of riding EUCs, I tried out my mountain bike again and found I was enjoying it a lot more than ever before, I feel so much more in control of the bike and it feels completely different for me. So I see the value of bikes and EUCs for different purposes.

I often walk with people while riding the EUC, or join them in public transport or in a car. I don't hang with EUC riders. Riding at slow walking speed is actually a lot of fun for me and not a burden at all. I also don't avoid stairs. My daily commute includes about 20 flights of stairs, no problem. That's the beauty of having a light-ish and _actually_ portable wheel of 17kg. I wish it were lighter, but the weight seems not to restrict any of my use cases.

Hi Adam ! Nice video ! Here are some thoughts. First of all, I'm sorry for those unthinkably boring 2 weeks you went through. A bike ??? Cmon... 😅 Social life: It's true that EUC-only lifestyle puts you a little bit appart from social groups for logistical reasons. For me it's one of my main reasons to have an EUC 😂. Maintenance is a nightmare. Just changed the tire on my T4 (it had 5700km on it !!!). I got help from a kind friend who had the tools and the expertise, it still took us 3 hours. Horrible. As to being limited, it's mostly due to our gear and not being able to park outside. I think it depends a lot on your wheel and your usage. A lynx and full gear is not the same a V10F and a light helmet. Feel of freedom: nothing will beat EUC's untill we have nuclear powered jetpacks.

A bicycle vs an EUC: Firstly Cornwall where I live extremely hilly. That's a pain on a bicycle, give me a break I'm 66. An electric bike too big too heavy. The EUC I can throw in the back of the car a bike needs special carriers. My EUC at home sits where I put it without much thought, a bicycle takes way too much space where ever you put it. A bicycle, well of course I have ridden since I was a child, the EUC more challenging, more fun, more of an adrenaline rush (probably because I'm useless at it compared to yourself). Anti-social? Far from it, I'm slow, I stop off on my trips to talk to people, people are interested in what I'm riding (what is it, how fast, how far, how much, do you fall off, etc) Conclusion for me at least bicycles are out, EUC's are in :-)

Wow, Often the "lecture" is worse than the ticket.

You're not alone. I recently got a talk from the cops just because I rode my EUC at 50kph on a straight and empty bicycle path. Luckily, they didn't issue me any ticket. However, they told me to get rid of my EUC and never ride it again, because it goes faster than the allowed 20kph speed limit. During my two years of riding, prior to that episode, EUC riding was a fantastic, freeing experience, now I can feel the limitations set upon me by the law enforcement and I need to watch my six whenever I ride.

Response to your question. It’s neither 🤷‍♂ It's all about balancing things in your life (as always). You doing one thing for some time and then you should do something that is counter to what you were doing, to be able to "refresh" the feelings and the excitement. Everything should be balanced, and nothing can last forever

Adam, goes on EUC trip with his EV and the first vid on his return is down on EVs as a trip vehicle. Then his second is down on EUCs. Hmmmm... It must have been more than 5 years .... I'm sure I was watching your vids way before covid. ...7 year itch? EUCs have certainly changed from the Ninebot days in 2016. Then they didn't go fast, were a fraction the weight and size and much less intimidating to non users so less anti social. I had been gradually becoming less enthused given the direction EUCs were going and using my bike more. I wondered if I was just bending to social pressure as I aged. Also bicycles are not attractive of law officers.

sadly i think your excitement with stuff like the pump track won’t last very long (because it didn’t last long for me) and also i think euc’s are freeing in many ways and limiting in a few so its very worth it but its good to mix it up and not ONLY use euc’s for 5 years every day

Every one should try to live life in some "middle point". You lived your last years on euc in mode "all day every day" and that's not in the middle that's edge Adam😊. You made few steps back to middle point and as I understand you like it?

Sounds like ur in a mid-life crisis... exactly like ur previous video when u were done with EUC altogether. Despite that, love your insights on Euc, especially when you crack them open. Waiting for the V14 inner view. Cheers Mr. Wrong way.

What I do is make a mix. I walk, ride bike, electric scooter, driving a car (because I have to, work and doing chores) But riding a bike it’s really fun specially when it’s better weather… This year I want to go on bike trails, a new experience for me… A mix it’s the best. Glad that you found that out. 🎩 But we were wondering on YT what’s up with You .. 🫡 A bit too much over excitement yeah 😅 EUC is not limiting me, it’s giving me an extraordinary experience that is a feeling like no other. Like I said I still use other method of transportation, but every has its role. For me it’s not all about EUC. But it’s one that it’s a special hobby. Have a good one and just follow your feelings about what You wanna do ! ☝🏽🫡🎩

Concerning about the battery 🔋. Do you recommend turning the EUC off every time before entering the elevator 🛗?

I'm still curious who'll be the first EUC to implement solid state batteries on they're EUC. It holds much more power, lightweight and safety wise, it won't catch any fires due to its components materials inside solid state batteries.
