Nah. I think the reason is a compensation. They could just gave them back a body that they crush accidentally with a space ship, but they also probably knew an astroid is heading earth's way so they gave them weaponize body instead. And left with "I've gave you the power needed, what you do with it is up to you". Mind you that they (aliens) can probably made new body like renewing cell and stuff. Take a look at the people that they both (Ichi/Hero) heal. As long as they not dead they can heal. As for the aliens, they technology is probably way advance that preserving the humanity and incapsuling it in mechanical body is easy. Kinda like DC's Cyborg or Robocop, only that the whole body is mechanical.

Xrays function by essentially blasting a sheet of radiation at the subject. Most of this radiation passes through your soft tissue with little to no issue, though some is stopped at your bones. This all occurs with an xray slide placed directly behind the subject, which absorbs the positive/negative space afterimage of the subjects bones and tissue respectively in the process. Since these characters are entirely made of metal/mechanical parts underneath the flesh , an xray would show nothing but pure white obfuscation from the various layers of metal blocking radiation passthrough, like what we see in the show. Hope this makes sense and helps !

All of this ignoring the semi-obvious fact that xrays dont provide any real insight towards the progression of someones cancer (You would want an MRI for something like that) but we can go ahead and gloss over that fact for storytelling sake 😂 In reality they probably wouldve put him into the usual mri machine, only to have him torn to pieces flinging shrapnel around the room at mach 5, and that wouldve made for a really lame ending
