So awesome for Alex to score silver then a gold ring! Nothing like the emotion of someone starting out finding something amazing! So cool that he had you guys there to share in the experience! Very awesome spot to dig with so much potential! I’m sure that there will be many more amazing finds out of that field! Take care, ATB and happy hunting!

Laurie, one would have expected that lad to have shown more excitement when he found silver first off and then a gold ring. He was very restrained I thought. Very cool he was. Where were your good finds dear I see Eric did well with that 1931 silver? Must be warming up your had your ankles exposed.

Whahaha! I love his reactions! My best find of the day was my gopro after loosing it across a field lol.. it just wasn’t my day! It was Alex’s 😊

Not a dry eye in the house, so happy for him! I watch his videos too, it's going to be interesting to see his version but I think you did stupendously capturing those moments! I find that the more I detect, the harder it is to find those bucket listers because the list gets shorter with time and I miss the thrill of first discoveries. Nice job with the video and thanks again for the inclusion!

Another amazing video thanks for sharing. Do you by chance know if metal detecting is permitted in Ontario provincial parks? I'll be staying at a few on my way to visit family in grimsby and hamilton areas. Once I get to grimsby area I have private land to detect but will be staying in provincial parks as we drive there from central alberta any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Sound like an amazing adventure, I don’t think metal detecting in provincial parks is permitted unless you have permission by the parks management. If you do get permission, it’s best to get it in writing by email and print it out. Just in case. Some Ontario cities do require a permit, I don’t believe Hamilton requires any but you did mention you’ll be detecting private land. I do believe Digging Canuck is up in that area 😊 Have fun and safe travels!

@@RelicDirtyhands sounds good. Thanks for the additional information. Detecting is permitted in provincial parks in ontario, but you need permission from each park and its wierd. You can't dig. Has to be surface finds and most don't permit detecting on the beaches or within 300 m of a water body. This came direct from a parks staff member I emailed directly. Also you have to turn everything you find over to the park superintendent for review and possible seizure for lost and found protocols and certain elements of the heritage and parks act. Ha ha. So its not a prohibited activity, but you can't really do much other than clean up surface trash and what's recently dropped. Might find some clad or some jewelry but who knows I guess. I think we will stick to fishing in the parks and leave the dirt swinging until we get to our destination and can detect on private land and other old places where we have already secured the appropriate permissions. Have a great day.
