“he’s just part of the class-look, he’s dancing again” hahah so sweet. a common issue for younger people who are so intelligent is that they find it difficult to make same-age friends/connect with peers but it looks like elliott might be fine there too. they seem like such a loving and well-rounded family!

I dont think kids should have to fit in these days and times. I think children should be taught to be accepting and kind to others and not worry about fitting in. Looks like his parents raised him to be a nice and kind, caring child.
@er-ha
@er-ha Ай бұрын
@@user-wq6by2wj5v This is more specifically for children with incredibly high IQ; even if they WANT to, many struggle to be accepted by peers and to relate to them. At the end of the day, even the smartest child is still a child and usually likes things that their peers like (although they may have a broader scope of interests). But just because they share interests, how they regard, discuss, participate, etc. in those interests can be very different. Fitting in? I think you can look at it as something necessary or unnecessary, depending on how you interpret it. “Fitting in” can look like being different but being accepted; it doesn’t always look like conforming to the norm. But children sometimes avoid/unintentionally isolate those who are of such IQ because they struggle to communicate with them. That being said, though, same-age/peer relations are beneficial for people of all ages, especially youth, and helps with their development and mental health. I would want my child to be nice, kind and caring-but also to be able to have fun with friends and be a child as a child no matter how intelligent they are!

Even if that were true, kids still need to be kids. I would hope they were pulling back somewhat. Skipping over the childhood phase leads to serious problems later. As parents, we need to make sure they don't grow up too fast.

How does he have the time to socialize with everything he's involved in? By socialize, I mean forming genuine, lasting emotional connections, where they spend significant time together. A healthy childhood requires plenty of unstructured free time for carefree play and bonding. How are they fitting it all in? The math doesn't work out.

Dad said it all he just wants him to be “happy”. I have a daughter who is now 27 who is also gifted. We all want our kids to accelerate and soar to the top. However, just as those with learning disabilities struggle kids who are extremely intelligent face their own challenges and struggles, their brains may be functioning at a genius level but I personally feel sometimes emotionally and socially they can find themselves in an awkward situation where they just don’t fit in. With that being said I think it’s so important to allow these kids who’ve been blessed with such an amazing gift to pursue their goals at their own pace and we as parents need to guide their steps in a positive, supportive manner. Life isn’t always about work, work, work and if that’s all what a person does too often we fail to stop and fill our hearts with joy and happiness . You can see the joy and happiness in this young boy. He genuinely appears to be enjoying all he does.

I have a number of nieces and nephews who earned their PhD's at the age most kids were getting their HS diplomas. I learned a lesson from them when my own daughter was tested as profoundly gifted. Children like this can advanced fast academically but regarding their maturity they will always be the age they are. Push them into a world of peers far more mature than they are and the results can cause life long damage. So I held her back (a little), always made sure she had friends her own age, and stayed very involved in her day to day life. She entered college at 15 (while still living at home) and graduated with her undergraduate (duel degrees) by 18. At that point she was mature enough to go off to college (graduate school) on her own. In fact she was much better adjusted to college life than most incoming freshman her same age. All the extra IQ points in the world does not replace the need to be a good responsible parent.
