A player laughing during losing isn't that big of deal. Some people laugh at their own pain and struggle so they won't become consumed with frustration
@standardofexcellence

He's laughing cause it's rigged and he's supposed to protect kayfabe. Recently this happened with the chargers qb, he had to go out for a prop bet so they could make money off the bets with an "injury" but he couldn't act so he had to come back the next week or would be revealed to more as a fraud and as a result they missed the playoffs as punishment. It was hilarious

Yeah or just said what was probably the truth, was that he was laughing out of frustration as a defense mechanism because there was nothing else he could do... Ive been an avid football fan since I was a kid and I don't remember this making the national media at all. It obviously did based upon the clips shown in this video but it's just such a non-story(as far as what he actually did) that I don't remember it. Also it was on a horribly managed and horribly coached browns team that was always the laughing stick of the NFL and always had some type of drama going on. That makes many of the stories forgettable. I do feel bad for this man though. Good for him on getting his money from the browns though. 30mil over 3 years, probably like 6 guaranteed and then another 10 for the season he played. Not to mention his draft contract and free agent contracts before that. He probably pulled over 20 mil in his NFL career. Not too shabby for a backup during that time period

I’m a Panthers fan, and I always appreciated what DA did in Carolina. He really helped Cam, and he was a great backup. Cam has said multiple times that DA was a huge help, especially early in his career. In my eyes, his career was a success. I love that his highlight for his 5 TD game on the Browns is Braylon Edwards saving him on a bad fade pass and taking the ball from the DB. 😂
@Doaclanleader81
@Doaclanleader81 2 ай бұрын
People tend to forget how many other players were absolutely having career years that season for the Browns. Braylon Edwards had 80 catches for 1289 yards and 16 touchdowns, Kellen Winslow had 82 catches for 1106 yards and 5 touchdowns, they had a rookie Joe Thomas coming in and getting his career started with a Pro Bowl, Jamal Lewis put up over 1500 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns. Josh Cribbs was putting them in incredible field position if not getting them the points himself on the returns, getting over 2200 yards on returns that year. Then you had Anderson being very inconsistent, while helping these guys reach those numbers he was also a turnover machine. 19 Interceptions and 5 fumbles on the season, and that was with Frye starting the first game and Quinn playing significant time in the final game. You seem to have left out information where the Browns went 24 quarters (6 GAMES STRAIGHT) without an offensive touchdown the next year during the 2008 season. Or where Anderson went 3 touchdowns to 10 interceptions in 2009 completing only 44% of his passes on the season while Brady Quinn the same season had 8 touchdowns to 7 interceptions while completing 53% of his passes. I'm shocked he was able to get the opportunity to start the year after at Arizona to be honest.

Quite the sensationalist headline. He has one OK season in Cleveland where he split time beating out Brady Quinn and not beating out Brady Quinn. Went to one of the worst QB-rooms in modern history in Arizona, still not earning clearcut starting duties battling Max Hall and John Skelton. A man only starting because everyone around him is terrible and even in that context, not always starting. At no point was Derek Anderson a coveted commodity at the QB position. He goes to Carolina and his luck runs out in terms of being in god-awful QB rooms and he becomes a backup, which he would have been on about 29 teams his entire career.

He was having a bad game against a bad team in a lost season. It's like the old saying, "Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying." He was probably laughing and talking about what else could possibly go wrong? I bet if it was one of the QBs that Jon Gruden loved, he would've framed it exactly the way I did. "This guy is an all-time competitor and is laughing in frustration." However, since it was a terrible MNF game with two teams that were disappointments, Gruden took the opportunity to tee off on Anderson. The guys on Sportscenter and the reporter were just piling on - the reporter wanted a confrontation, and he got one.

Laughing is also a reaction to something you are very baffled about. He believed he was great, and destined to be a backup, but working to the starter position. Laughing is a response to an event that the particular person doesnt know how to react to. Simply he is laughing, because he is confused. Laugh was a reflex, laughing also sends out positive signals to the brain.
