Love Adam Rupp & his insane talent. He is the best out there in my opinion. He simulates the sounds of a drum perfectly. Many drummers have commented on how good he is. He sounds so realistic. This was a few years ago & hard to believe but he is even better now. Adam is the glue that holds Home Free together. He is their secret weapon which other a cappella groups can't match.

I've read that when he joined the band he was not a drummer. But he wanted to add drums to his beatboxing, and decided that the best way to accomplish that was to learn real drumming first. So he taught himself to play drums and created that solo on real drums. Once he could perform it with real drums, it became much easier to beatbox. But that doesn't explain how he learned to be a DJ. Maybe he learned that at Hogwarts. When somebody is this good, sorcery can't be ruled out.

Hahaha - Adam went to Hogwarts! That’s a first. Adam (Rupp!) is amazing. He does a solo in every concert they do. Home Free doesn’t need instruments when you have Adam. You forget there aren’t instruments playing. That southern outback (Australia) instrument he was doing is a didgeridoo. So cool. He can do most anything. I think he taught himself how to play the drums so he could do his hand movements correctly. He’s a real trumpet player. Home Free is talented for sure. Great reaction AB!

I read that he study music performance on trumpet in college. He plays several other instruments one of which is drums. So, to answer your question, he does play drums.

Adam is the only Home Free member who isn't formally voice trained. He has a pretty tenor voice, but he doesn't feel he is good enough to sing lead. I'm sure he wouldn't embarrass himself if he did, but as you can see from his beat boxing, he likes to get it right. So, he, by his choice, sticks to harmonies and small solo bits here and there. In his newer solo,, he does a Michael Jackson segment where he moonwalks and does MJ choreography while beat boxing. Very cool.

This is a myth. Adam has never competed at the national or international level. Home Free does 200-250 concerts a year plus travel time, plus time in studio recording albums and time on location recording videos. When he's not with Home Free, Adam is home with his wife and two kids. He doesn't have the time to compete. This doesn't mean he's not good enough to win, but he hasn't won because it's not a priority.

I think where peopl get idea that he has won world comps is because he has for many years been voted the #1 beatboxer world wide by his beatboxing peers. He has competed in the states but I can not find his standing in that.
